  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Still out Saturday

Ruiz (illness) isn't in the Nationals' lineup Saturday versus Oakland, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Ruiz has now missed four consecutive starts due to illness, but the 25-year-old backstop remains day-to-day. Riley Adams will start again in Ruiz's place and bat eighth.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Sits down Saturday

Realmuto isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Realmuto will get a breather Saturday after going 1-for-7 with a run scored through the first two games of the series. Garrett Stubbs will take over behind the plate and bat seventh.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Gets breather Saturday

Stephenson isn't in the Reds' lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Stephenson will get a day off Saturday after going 1-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored during Friday's blowout victory. Luke Maile will start behind the dish instead while batting eighth.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Sitting Saturday

Alvarez isn't in the Mets' lineup for Saturday's contest against Kansas City.

Alvarez will get a breather after going 1-for-4 and scoring a run during Friday's win in the series opener. Omar Narvaez will fill in behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Launches first homer

Stephenson went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 11-1 win over the White Sox.

Stephenson homered as part of Cincinnati's five-run third inning, his first homer of the season. The catcher is finding his groove, having hit safely in four consecutive games. Stephenson is slashing .258/.324/.419 through 34 plate appearances.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Six-game hitting streak

Diaz went 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored Friday against the Blue Jays.

Diaz delivered singles in each of his first two at-bats, coming around to score after the first while driving in a run with the latter. The performance extended his hitting streak to six games, the first five of which came at Coors Field. Diaz has started 10 of the first 14 contests of the season and should remain the Rockies' primary catcher.

  • Henry Davis RF | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Drives in two during win

Davis went 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk during Friday's 5-2 win over the Phillies.

Davis drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in the Pirates' first run of the game in the second inning and gave the team some insurance with an RBI double in the eighth to make it a 4-1 game. The 24-year-old backstop has gotten off to a slow start in 2024, but he has now recorded a base hit in each of his last three games, going 4-for-9 with three walks in that span.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Remains out Friday

Ruiz is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Ruiz will miss his third game in a row due to an illness. In his absence, Riley Adams will draw the start at catcher after the Nationals optioned Drew Millas to Triple-A Rochester following Wednesday's game.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Resting Thursday

D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

D'Arnaud will effectively get two straight rest days; Wednesday's game was postponed, and he'll now hit the bench for Thursday's series finale while Chadwick Tromp draws the start behind the plate. While Sean Murphy (oblique) remains on the 10-day injured list, d'Arnaud should continue to see the bulk of the starts at catcher.

  • Ivan Herrera C | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Will continue to get regular reps

The Cardinals will look to continue giving Herrera consistent playing time even after Willson Contreras (hand) is available to catch, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Contreras hopes to be able to catch this weekend in Arizona after missing four games and then being limited to designated hitter duty in the last two contests. With Lars Nootbaar (ribs) also due back Friday, it creates a bit of a playing time logjam for the Cards. Herrera, though, has earned regular reps, putting up an .875 OPS with three homers and seven RBI in nine games. The 23-year-old should continue to be worth using as a second fantasy catcher as long as he's getting at-bats.
