Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Receiving Wednesday off
Smith is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Smith started the first two games of the series but will sit for the finale after going 0-for-8 with an RBI and three strikeouts. Austin Barnes will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Gavin Stone.

Pedro Pages C | STL
Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Heading to bench with RHP on mound
Pages is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Pages had started in each of the last three games while the Cardinals faced left-handed pitchers, but he'll retreat to the bench Wednesday as the Rays send right-hander Taj Bradley to the bump. Willson Contreras will step back in behind the plate after serving as the Cardinals' designated hitter in each of the last three contests.

Riley Adams C | WAS
Nationals' Riley Adams: Filling in for resting Ruiz
Adams will start at catcher and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Giants.
For the first time since July 28, Adams will crack the Washington lineup while top backstop Keibert Ruiz gets a day off. So long as Ruiz doesn't show any signs of wearing down from his heavy workload, Adams will likely be in store for limited opportunities moving forward.

Ali Sanchez C | MIA
Marlins' Ali Sanchez: Getting second straight start
Sanchez will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Sanchez will pick up a second consecutive start and could see the majority of the work behind the plate for the foreseeable future after Nick Fortes (quadricep) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. The Marlins recalled Jhonny Pereda from Triple-A Jacksonville to provide another option at catcher, but Pereda is a 28-year-old rookie who has just five MLB plate appearances to his name. Sanchez is slashing .180/.255/.180 over his 20 games with the Marlins this season and shouldn't be viewed as a viable fantasy option outside of NL-only leagues.

Jhonny Pereda C | MIA
Marlins' Jhonny Pereda: Summoned from Triple-A
The Marlins recalled Pereda from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.
Pereda will move up to the big leagues for the third time this season and will likely serve as the understudy to Ali Sanchez, who is expected to take over as the Marlins' No. 1 catcher after Nick Fortes (quadriceps) was placed on the 10-day injured list. During his previous stints with the Marlins, Sanchez appeared in just five games and went hitless in five at-bats. He's been productive in a part-time role at Jacksonville this season, slashing .310/.418/.458 over 184 plate appearances.

Nick Fortes C | MIA
Marlins' Nick Fortes: Shelved with quad strain
The Marlins placed Fortes on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right quadriceps strain.
Miami recalled Jhonny Pereda from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move and will likely have him operate as the No. 2 option at catcher behind Ali Sanchez, who will make a second straight start Wednesday in place of Fortes. The 27-year-old Fortes had slashed .219/.246/.288 with two home runs, 18 RBI and 16 runs in 78 games before apparently suffering the injury at some point during his most recent start in Monday's 10-3 loss to the Reds.

Nick Fortes C | MIA
Marlins' Nick Fortes: Held out of lineup again Wednesday
Fortes (quadricep) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Fortes will miss a second straight start after exiting Monday's 10-3 loss with a tight quad. He was available off the bench Tuesday and presumably will be again Wednesday. Ali Sanchez will draw another start at catcher for the Marlins.

Elias Diaz C | SD
Rockies' Elias Diaz: Drives in two
Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Mets.
Diaz delivered a pair of RBI knocks and tallied his first multi-hit game since July 10. He's appeared in 14 games since that date and has hit just .159 with three RBI and three runs scored. Diaz is still batting .275 for the season while lowering his strikeout rate to 18.3 percent.

Miguel Amaya C | CHC
Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Resting up Wednesday
Amaya is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.
Amaya had started at catcher each of the past four days, so he'll be getting a breather Wednesday while the Cubs and Twins wrap up their series with an afternoon game after a night game. Christian Bethancourt will step in behind the plate in place of Amaya, who has gone 2-for-14 with a home run and a walk through his first five games this month.
