  • Tomas Nido C | DET

Mets' Tomas Nido: Exits with apparent injury

Nido left the first game of Monday's doubleheader against Atlanta with an apparent wrist injury, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Nido was hit in the wrist by a pitch and replaced by James McCann, who will almost certainly start behind the plate for the nightcap. The severity of Nido's injury is not yet clear.

  • Braves' William Contreras: Resting for Game 1 of twin bill

Contreras is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Mets.

Kevan Smith will get the nod behind the dish in Game 1, catching for lefty Kyle Muller in his first big-league start. Expect Contreras to handle catching duties in the nightcap, when right-hander Ian Anderson will be on the mound.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Mets' James McCann: Out of lineup in Game 1

McCann isn't included in the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with Atlanta.

McCann will get a breather for the first game of the twin bill, but he'll presumably be behind the plate for the nightcap, when the newly recalled Jerad Eickhoff is expected to make his first start for the Mets. Tomas Nido is catching for Jacob deGrom in Game 1.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Out versus southpaw

Barnhart is out of the lineup Monday against the Twins.

The Reds have been rolling out a platoon at catcher of late featuring the lefty-hitting Barnhart in the lineup against right-handed pitching, but he'll take a seat Monday with southpaw J.A. Happ on the bump for Minnesota. Tyler Stephenson will catch and bat cleanup for the Reds in the series opener.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Homers in loss

Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a double in Sunday's 11-2 loss to San Francisco.

Realmuto did his best to carry the Phillies' offense Sunday, driving in the team's only two runs and collecting three of their four hits in the loss. It was his third homer of the month and first since June 8. The star catcher has seven home runs this season with 29 RBI and an .888 OPS.

  • Braves' William Contreras: Not starting Game 2

Contreras isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Contreras was behind the dish during the first game in the twin bill, and he went 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout. Kevan Smith will start at catcher and bat eighth in the nightcap.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

    Dodgers' Will Smith: Resting Sunday

Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Smith will get a breather for the series finale after he caught both of the past two games for the Dodgers and went 3-for-8 with a home run, double and walk between the contests. Austin Barnes will be behind the dish Sunday.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

    Rockies' Elias Diaz: Sitting Sunday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Diaz will give way to Dom Nunez in the series finale, but the former seems to be benefiting from the larger share of playing time at catcher lately. Before sitting Sunday, Diaz started behind the plate in four of the Rockies' last six games.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Stars offensively Saturday

Smith went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and a walk in Saturday's 9-3 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Smith put the Dodgers on the board in the first inning, plating a pair of runs with a 367-foot homer to right field. He collected two more base knocks in the contest for his second three-hit performance of the season. Smith has gone deep three times in his past seven games, slashing .333/.462/.857 with six RBI and only two strikeouts over that span.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Not starting Saturday

Narvaez isn't starting Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Narvaez started each of the last two contests and went 1-for-6 with a double, two runs, three walks and two strikeouts. Manny Pina will start behind the plate and bat fifth.
