  • Phillies' Rafael Marchan: Sent to minors

    The Phillies optioned Marchan to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

    Marchan had been serving as the Phillies' No. 3 catcher behind J.T. Realmuto and Andrew Knapp, but the club will swap him out for a bullpen piece in lefty Damon Jones. During his time with the Phillies, Marchan appeared in three games and went 2-for-5 with two runs.

    Nola will get a breather after he went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBI, a run and a strikeout in Tuesday's win over Oakland. Victor Caratini will start at catcher and bat eighth.

    Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Idle versus lefty

    Narvaez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

    With southpaw Steven Brault on the hill for Pittsburgh, the lefty-hitting Narvaez will take a seat, ending a streak of three straight starts behind the plate. Manny Pina will catch for Freddy Peralta in the series finale.

    Giants' Curt Casali: Smacks fifth homer

    Casali went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Arizona.

    The catcher accounted for San Francisco's lone run when he went deep in the fifth inning. Casali has gone 3-for-6 with a homer and a double in his last two games. The 32-year-old has five long balls, 21 RBI, 15 runs scored and a .221/.329/.404 slash line in 158 plate appearances. He's likely to start every third game or so as Buster Posey's backup.
