Although Caratini managed to carve out playing time as the Cubs' designated hitter to begin the season, he'll sit Monday for the second consecutive contest. Kris Bryant (illness) will return to the starting lineup in left field while Kyle Schwarber will serve as the designated hitter.

White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Reaches base four times
Grandal went 3-for-4 with a walk, three RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Royals.
Grandal, who drove in runs on three consecutive plate appearances, heated up over the weekend. He went 5-for-9 with a double, two walks, five RBI and three runs scored. The catcher's production helped the White Sox extend their win streak to four and moved them above .500 for the first time this season.

Twins' Mitch Garver: Clubs first homer
Garver went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Sunday against Cleveland.
Garver took Aaron Civale deep over the left field wall to lead off the second inning. It was his first home run of the season, and welcomed production as he has now reached base only five times in 22 plate appearances. Most concerningly, he has struck out 10 times in that span. Garver will look to get on track as the Twins begin a series against Pittsburgh on Monday.

Barnhart isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Tigers.
Barnhart went 2-for-3 with one strikeout in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. However, Curt Casali will get the nod at catcher for Game 2, batting fifth.

Mariners' Austin Nola: Gets day off
Nola is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
He'll take a seat in favor of Joe Hudson, who starts behind the dish and catches for starting pitcher Kendall Graveman. Nola, who has reached base at a .400 clip through six games this season, should serve as the Mariners' undisputed No. 1 backstop until Tom Murphy (foot) is ready to return from the injured list.

Maldonado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Maldonado is just getting a break after catching each of the Astros' last four games and going 1-for-10 at the dish. Dustin Garneau will step in behind the plate in Maldonado's stead, catching for starting pitcher Josh James.
