  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Getting night off

Rutschman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

After breaking out of an extended slump with a home run among his two hits in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers, Rutschman was back on the struggle bus in Tuesday's 10-0 loss to San Francisco, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He'll give way to James McCann behind the plate Wednesday, but Rutschman should continue to see the bulk of the starts at catcher over the final week and a half of the season as the Orioles hope to get him back in peak form at the dish heading into the postseason.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Getting Wednesday off

Bailey is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bailey will get some rest after he caught all nine innings of Tuesday's 10-0 win. Curt Casali checks in behind the dish for Bailey on Wednesday.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Retreating to bench

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Jeffers will get a break Wednesday after he had started in each of the last three games (two at catcher, one at designated hitter). Christian Vazquez will step in behind the plate for Jeffers and will form a battery with starting pitcher Bailey Ober.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Taking seat Wednesday

Ruiz is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Mets, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Ruiz will get a routine day off after starting in each of the last four games. Drew Millas will handle catching duties for Washington in the series finale.

  • Matt Thaiss C | CHC

Angels' Matt Thaiss: Starting in place of O'Hoppe

Thaiss will start at catcher and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Thaiss will get the nod behind the plate Wednesday in place of the resting Logan O'Hoppe, as the Angels and White Sox wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. The 29-year-old Thaiss will be entering the lineup in the midst of a cold spell, as he's gone hitless in 30 at-bats over his last 11 contests.

  • Angels' Gustavo Campero: Swipes first big-league bag

Campero went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-0 win against the White Sox.

One day after notching his first major-league hit -- a run-scoring single -- Campero posted his first multi-hit performance with a pair of singles. He also recorded his first theft with a fifth-inning swipe of second base, which led to a run on a Nolan Schanuel double. Campero is starting in right field for the third straight game Wednesday, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, and if he gets enough playing time down the stretch he could be a sneaky source of steals, as he swiped 33 bags in 40 attempts over 107 games in the minors prior to his Sept. 15 promotion to the majors.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Absent from lineup

O'Hoppe is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

O'Hoppe will give way to Matt Thaiss at catcher for the second time during the three-game series. The 24-year-old O'Hoppe has gone just 3-for-23 with 11 strikeouts over his last seven contests.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Resting up Wednesday

Lee is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

After catching eight innings of the White Sox's 5-0 loss Tuesday night, Lee will get a breather while the club wraps up its series in Anaheim with a day game. Chuckie Robinson will get the nod behind the dish Wednesday.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Goes yard twice in win

Langeliers went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Cubs.

Both blasts came off Jordan Wicks, as Langeliers launched a two-run homer in the first inning and a solo shot in the fifth. The 26-year-old has only three hits in his last 20 at-bats, but all three have left the yard. On the season, Langeliers is slashing .220/.280/.448 with 28 homers, 74 RBI, 54 runs and four stolen bases.

  • Diamondbacks' Andrew Knizner: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Diamondbacks outrighted Knizner to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Knizner cleared waivers after being removed from the 40-man roster over the weekend, but he will remain in the organization for the time being. The veteran catcher is a career .210/.279/.317 hitter over parts of six major-league seasons.
