Danny Jansen C | TEX
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Sitting Tuesday
Jansen isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Twins.
Jansen was in line for a day off following three straight starts behind the dish. Luke Maile will catch and bat ninth in Jansen's place.

Omar Narvaez C | HOU
Mariners' Omar Narvaez: On bench Tuesday
Narvaez will sit Tuesday against the Yankees.
Narvaez hits the bench after starting four straight contests. Tom Murphy takes over behind the plate.

Curt Casali C | ATL
Reds' Curt Casali: Plates two runs Monday
Casali went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and a run in Monday's 12-4 win over the Giants.
Casali drew the nod behind the plate with top backstop Tucker Barnhart resting after three consecutive starts. Though Barnhart is batting just .188 on the season, his Gold Glove-caliber defense shouldn't result in him bowing out of the lineup much more than once or twice per week. As a result, Casali is unlikely to see his opportunities grow anytime soon.

Travis d'Arnaud C | LAA
Dodgers' Travis d'Arnaud: Slated for first base/outfield role
Manager Dave Roberts said Monday that d'Arnaud will see the bulk of his action at first base and left field, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
D'Arnaud has played almost exclusively at catcher during parts of seven seasons in the majors, but it doesn't sound like he'll be much more than the No. 3 option behind the plate while both Austin Barnes and Russell Martin are healthy. Though getting acclimated at the two new positions will offer d'Arnaud additional avenues to enter the lineup, Roberts suggested he doesn't plan on handing the 30-year-old a start anytime soon. D'Arnaud may instead offer his most value in the short term as a pinch hitter off the bench.

Yan Gomes C | CHC
Nationals' Yan Gomes: X-rays return negative
Gomes' X-rays on his left forearm came back negative, and he's optimistic he'll be able to play Tuesday against Milwaukee, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.
Gomes was drilled by a pitch in the first inning of Monday's contest on the forearm, but he's not expected to miss much if any time due to the issue. He's hopeful he can return to the lineup Tuesday, though his status won't be cleared up until closer to first pitch.

James McCann C | ARI
White Sox's James McCann: Continues strong start
McCann went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and two runs scored in Monday's 9-1 win over the Indians.
McCann, who just had a 16-game on-base streak snapped Sunday, was back at it Monday, swatting his fourth homer. His .995 OPS is uncharted territory for the 29-year-old catcher whose career OPS is .669. Nothing has radically changed in McCann's batted-ball rates, so a .440 BABIP is the best explanation for the fast start.

Yan Gomes C | CHC
Nationals' Yan Gomes: Leaves with forearm injury
Gomes was lifted from Monday night's game against the Brewers due to a bruised left forearm, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
Gomes was struck by a pitch in the forearm in the first inning, though he managed to remain in the contest until the third before ultimately departing. Kurt Suzuki replaced Gomes behind the dish. Gomes appears to have avoided a significant injury and will be considered day-to-day until further notice.

Brett Nicholas C | SD
Brett Nicholas: Announces retirement
Nicholas announced on his personal Twitter page Monday that he's elected to retire.
The 30-year-old signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox in mid-April but elected to retire rather than fight his way back to the big leagues. He got into 37 games with the Rangers in 2016 and 2017, hitting .252/.300/.456 with four homers.

Victor Caratini C | MIN
Cubs' Victor Caratini: Beginning rehab stint
Caratini (hand) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Low-A South Bend on Monday, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Caratini has been sidelined since undergoing surgery to repair his fractured hand in mid-April. It remains to be seen how many rehab games the backstop will need to appear in before being cleared to return, but this is a step in the right direction.
