Brett Nicholas C | SD
Brett Nicholas: Announces retirement
Nicholas announced on his personal Twitter page Monday that he's elected to retire.
The 30-year-old signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox in mid-April but elected to retire rather than fight his way back to the big leagues. He got into 37 games with the Rangers in 2016 and 2017, hitting .252/.300/.456 with four homers.

Victor Caratini C | MIN
Cubs' Victor Caratini: Beginning rehab stint
Caratini (hand) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Low-A South Bend on Monday, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Caratini has been sidelined since undergoing surgery to repair his fractured hand in mid-April. It remains to be seen how many rehab games the backstop will need to appear in before being cleared to return, but this is a step in the right direction.

Austin Wynns C | TEX
Orioles' Austin Wynns: Not in Monday's lineup
Wynns is on the bench Monday against Boston, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Wynns was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk eight days ago and inserted straight into the starting lineup, but he doesn't appear to be the Orioles' primary catcher. Pedro Severino has started four times to Wynns' three since Wynns returned.

Omar Narvaez C | HOU
Mariners' Omar Narvaez: Stays hot in blowout win
Narvaez went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run in a win over the Indians on Sunday.
The veteran backstop continues to offer solid offensive production in the bulk of his starts. Sunday already marked Narvaez's eighth multi-hit effort of the season, and the five home runs he's belted through 113 plate appearances leave him just four short of his career high. A more patient and discerning eye at the plate has been one of the factors in his success, as the 27-year-old is seeing a career-high 4.1 pitches per plate appearance.

Willson Contreras 1B | BOS
Cubs' Willson Contreras: Clocks ninth homer
Contreras went 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 13-5 win over St. Louis.
Contreras opened the game's scoring by sending a solo shot off Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright in the second inning. It was his third long ball in the last six games. Contreras also owns a robust 1.110 OPS with 21 RBI and 21 runs scored.

Mitch Garver C | SEA
Twins' Mitch Garver: Resting in series finale
Garver is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Though he'll take a seat in the series finale, Garver appears to have leapfrogged Jason Castro for the top spot on the depth chart at catcher. Garver was behind the plate for five of the past seven contests and connected on his sixth home run of the season in Saturday's 7-3 victory.

Travis d'Arnaud C | LAA
Dodgers' Travis d'Arnaud: Signed by Dodgers
D'Arnaud has signed with the Dodgers, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
The veteran backstop was cut loose by the Mets this week, but he's found a new home quickly, as he was spotted getting fitted for a cap in the Dodgers clubhouse Sunday. The Dodgers will carry three catchers with Austin Barnes and Russell Martin having split duties so far this season, and manager Dave Roberts said d'Arnaud could also see action in the infield and outfield, per Jorge Castillo of The Los Angeles Times. Per Plunkett, Matt Beaty was sent to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.
