  • Austin Wynns C | TEX

Orioles' Austin Wynns: Not starting Monday

Wynns is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Wynns retains a slight edge in playing time behind the plate down the stretch, starting four of the last seven games. Caleb Joseph gets the call Monday.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Out of lineup Monday

Maldonado is not in the lineup Monday in Toronto, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Maldonado has had the slight edge in playing time behind the plate down the stretch, making 12 starts in September compared to nine for Brian McCann. McCann will get the call Monday.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Heads to bench for series opener

Contreras is not in the lineup Monday against the Pirates.

Contreras has started five of the last six games behind the dish, going just 2-for-21 (.095) over that stretch. He'll sit in favor of Victor Caratini in this one.

  • Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Smacks third homer

Barnes went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Sunday against the Padres.

Barnes took Joey Lucchesi deep in the fourth inning to record his third home run of the season. The long ball was Barnes' second in his past nine appearances -- dating back to Sept. 4 -- illustrating just how little he has produced this season. Across 236 plate appearances, he's hit just .202/.328/.273.

  • Indians' Roberto Perez: Suffers shoulder bruise

Perez was removed from Sunday's game against the Red Sox due to a right shoulder contusion, Bill Koch of the Providence Journal reports.

Perez acquired the injury early in the game when he was clipped by a foul ball. Given the nature of the injury, he shouldn't miss much if any time.

  • Royals' Cameron Gallagher: Knocks in two vs. Detroit

Gallagher went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Tigers.

Gallagher plated a pair of runs in the sixth inning on a single to left field, handing his club a two-run lead. Despite a key hit in the series finale, the 25-year-old has struggled at the dish of late, recording a base hit in just three of his previous 10 games. He'll look to finish the season on a high note, although he may not see many more opportunities behind Salvador Perez.

  • Chad Wallach C | ATH

Marlins' Chad Wallach: Belts first homer

Wallach went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-0 win over the Reds.

Wallach delivered a three-run blast over the fence in left center during the third inning. He'd been hitless in his previous four games leading up to the series finale but managed to push his RBI total to five while recording his second multi-hit game of the season. The 26-year-old has gone 7-for-41 through 13 games this season for the Marlins.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Indians' Yan Gomes: Out of lineup Sunday

Gomes is not starting Sunday against the Red Sox.

Gomes sits after starting four of the last five games. Roberto Perez will work behind the plate.

  • Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: On bench Sunday

Grandal is not in the lineup Sunday against San Diego, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Grandal is hitting just .130 over his last nine games. Austin Barnes will get the call behind the plate Sunday.

  • Padres' Austin Hedges: Not in Sunday's lineup

Hedges is not starting Sunday against the Dodgers.

The Padres continue to split catching duties evenly, with Hedges getting seven starts and Francisco Mejia getting eight over the last 15 games. Mejia will get the call on this occasion.
