Gomes (hamstring) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels.

Gomes was diagnosed with hamstring tendinitis after he was removed from Friday's series opener and will miss his second straight game due to the issue. The Indians are labeling the injury as a day-to-day concern for the backstop, but he'll probably need to demonstrate some progress in his recovery prior to Monday's game against the Twins in order to avoid a trip to the disabled list. Roberto Perez will handle the catching duties Sunday.

Hedges went 1-for-3 with a homer and a pair of RBI in Saturday's loss to the Cubs.

Hedges cut the deficit to two with a fourth-inning solo shot off Kyle Hendricks. He brought the Padres to within one with a sixth-inning sacrifice fly, but the team would not score again. The catcher remains strikeout-prone (30.2 percent strikeout rate), but his .244/.302/.433 overall line is good for a 97 wRC+, a perfectly acceptable figure for a backstop.

Grandal is out of the lineup Saturday against the Astros, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Grandal started three straight games for the Dodgers, but he will join the other lefties on the bench Saturday as manager Dave Roberts loads the lineup full of right-handed bats to face Lance McCullers -- who owns better splits against left-handed hitters. Look for Grandal to return behind the dish for Sunday's series finale.

Gomes was pulled from Friday's game against the Angels with what was initially described as posterior right knee discomfort. The injury is now being described as a hamstring issue but isn't expected to be serious.

McCann is not in the lineup Saturday against the Athletics.

McCann is hitting just .193/.228/.295 over his last 25 games. John Hicks will be the Tigers' catcher Saturday, with Jim Adduci filling in at first base.

Murphy will not start behind the dish in Saturday's game against the Brewers, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Murphy is probably Colorado's best bat among the catchers, but he will sit out his third contest of the last four in the midst of an 0-for-13 stretch. Veteran Chris Iannetta will take on Milwaukee on Saturday in his place, batting eighth.

Garver is not starting Saturday against the Royals.

Garver is hitting .364 with a .976 OPS over his last 10 games. Bobby Wilson will get the start behind the plate Saturday.

Mesoraco isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Braves, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

After receiving the vast majority of starts behind the dish following his trade from the Reds, Mesoraco has been out of the lineup far more frequently off of late. Saturday marks his sixth breather in the last 10 games, with Kevin Plawecki receiving the nod behind the plate and batting eighth for the Mets.

Gomes left Friday's contest after feeling posterior right knee discomfort. He'll wind up missing at least one start, with Roberto Perez getting the call in his place.

Perez is not in the lineup Saturday against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

After starting five of six games, Perez has now sat in favor of Jesus Sucre for two of the past three. The 25-year-old has a solid defensive reputation and has hit .421 in his first six major-league games, but it may take another few days before it's clear that he's now the starter with Wilson Ramos shipped off to Philadelphia.
