After going 0-for-4 in Tuesday's loss to the Indians, McCann is now slashing just .161/.257/.194 with no home runs through his first 31 at-bats.

McCann slashed .253/.318/.415 last season and launched a career-high 13 home runs, but he's scuffling so far in 2018. Still, the opportunities should continue to be there for the 27-year-old, and playing time alone makes him an option in deeper two-catcher leagues.

Herrera has been suspended for 50-games without pay after testing positive for Methylhexaneamine and Oxilofrine, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic Arizona reports.

Herrera will begin serving the suspension immediately, keeping him sidelined through May. The 21-year-old is currently on Low-A Kane County's roster. He hit a lackluster .208/.261/.290 across 58 games with the affiliate in 2017.

Contreras went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.

Although Contreras has posted a .333 batting average since the start of the season, his consistent hitting has yet to translate into much run production. Over nine games he's driven in just one run and scored four. Strikeouts have also given him some trouble, as he's fanned in 23.8 percent of his plate appearances.

Grandal is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the A's.

Grandal will head to the bench for Tuesday's series opener against the Athletics as he continues to split time behind the dish with Austin Barnes. Barnes will pick up his fourth start of the season at catcher -- Grandal has started six -- and hit eighth.

Sanchez (calf) is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Red Sox.

As had been the hope, Sanchez is back in action after missing the previous two games with a calf injury. The Yankees will ease him back into things and limit him to hitting in his first game back, but if everything checks out after Tuesday's game, Sanchez should be cleared to return to catching shortly thereafter. He'll face the Red Sox's ace, Chris Sale, in his return to action.

D'Arnaud is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The Mets plan on divvying up playing time between d'Arnaud and Kevin Plawecki evenly this season -- the former will take a turn on the bench for the second game in a row. D'Arnaud is 3-for-15 on the season and will look to get back on the field in the series finale Wednesday.

Gomes is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Gomes will give way to Roberto Perez behind the dish after two consecutive starts behind the plate. Through the Indians' first 11 games this season, Gomes has picked up seven starts while Perez has notched four.

Jansen went 4-for-4 with a solo home run, a pair of doubles and a walk Monday for Triple-A Buffalo in the club's 4-3 win over Pawtucket in 12 innings.

It was an outstanding season debut for Jansen, who reached base in all five of his plate appearances while accounting for more than a third of Buffalo's hits. The catcher broke out while logging extensive action across three levels in 2017, slashing a combined .323/.400/.484 with 10 home runs. Jansen still needs further time in the minors to hone his receiving skills, but once he reaches the big leagues, he could offer above-average offense relative to most backstops.

Realmuto (back) could return Tuesday for the beginning of the Marlins' next road trip, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. "He's feeling great, and kind of champing at the bit," manager Don Mattingly said.

The catcher hasn't started a rehab assignment yet, but the training staff has had to hold Realmuto back from doing too much in his drills. He likely won't need to much time in the minors once he's cleared for game action. A realistic date for his return to the big-league lineup still appears to be April 19 in Milwaukee.

Narvaez went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Rays.

This was just Narvaez's second start in nine games, as there's been an expected drop in plate appearances after the White Sox signed Welington Castillo in the offseason. At this current pace, Narvaez is due to play just 36 games, although that number of starts should be higher, as Castillo has never played more than 113 games in a season.
