Gomes is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers.

This marks the second game in row Gomes will miss, although he's beginning to show signs of life at the plate once again. Roberto Perez will fill in for him behind the plate once more.

Manager Bud Black said that Murphy (forearm) could return in "a week to 10 days," Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Murphy has been tearing it up in the minors during his rehab assignment, batting .375 in 26 plate appearances at Triple-A Albuquerque. Although the catching prospect is nearing a return to action, the Rockies have a tough decision on their hands once he's activated. Ryan Hanigan has been performing well at the plate and has been heralded for his ability to manage Colorado's young pitching staff, so it's not a sure thing that Murphy would knock him off the big-league roster upon his return. Murphy does have a minor-league option, but Black hinted that Murphy will get his fair shake in the big leagues at some point this season. "Murphy was going to play a lot [out of spring training]," he said. "He showed some power with his bat and we liked how he caught games last year." If Murphy does receive a spot with the Rockies immediately, he would likely enter a timeshare behind the plate with incumbent backstop Tony Wolters and knock Ryan Hanigan off the roster. The Rockies must make a decision on this front by June 23, which is the latest date Murphy can return from the disabled list.

Sanchez is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels, Pete Caldera of The Record reports.

Sanchez will take a seat despite being in the midst of a five-game power binge; he's gone 9-for-21 (.429) with six extra-base hits and 13 RBI over that stretch. Austin Romine will draw the start behind the dish in his place as Masahiro Tanaka takes the mound for the Yankees.

Mesoraco is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

Despite knocking homers in consecutive games, Mesoraco will head to the bench as Tucker Barnhart comes on to catch for Bronson Arroyo. The 28-year-old is now slashing .240/.345/.493 with five home runs in 87 plate appearances on the year.

Vazquez is not in the lineup Monday against the Phillies, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Vazquez will take a seat for the third time in four games as he continues to split time behind the dish with Sandy Leon. The 26-year-old Vazquez remains the better fantasy option of the two, as he owns a .318/.345/.421 line for the season, albeit without a homer.

Mejia notched his fifth straight multi-hit game for Double-A Akron on Sunday, going 4-for-5 with a home run.

The top prospect is hitting .369/.412/.631 through 38 games, leading the Eastern League in batting average and OPS. Cleveland hasn't expressed interest in bringing up the catcher in 2017, but his performance in the minors shows he's not far from being ready.

Ice (wrist) was activated from the minor-league disabled list Monday.

Ice was sidelined 11 days due to the wrist injury, but it seems like everything is back in working order at this point. Prior to the injury, the second-year catcher was batting .212 with a 21:29 BB:K in 132 at-bats with Low-A Lake County.

Perez (ribs) was removed from Sunday's game for precautionary reasons, and he's expected to be in the lineup Tuesday against the Giants, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.

The catcher experienced some tightness in his right side, but by all indications, there's nothing for fantasy owners to fret. "[Perez] took a swing and felt a little tightness in here," manager Ned Yost said, pointing to his left side. "He didn't say nothing, and we kept prying, and he said: 'Yeah, it's a little tight.' I'm not taking any chances." After the game, Perez downplayed the issue and said he'd be ready for the three-game set in San Francisco this week.

Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run during Sunday's win over Miami.

The 26-year-old backstop has already piled up 10 RBI through just 39 plate appearances and boasts a rock-solid .382/.462/.588 slash line since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis. However, Diaz owns a .670 OPS over 158 games at the Triple-A level, so his current results at the highest level are probably unsustainable. He'll continue to see plenty of at-bats for the duration of Francisco Cervelli's (concussion) and Chris Stewart's (hamstring) absences, though.

Perez exited Sunday's game against the Padres with tightness in his rib cage, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.

Fortunately, the club does not believe that Perez's ailment to be serious, so there's a chance he'll be back in the lineup when the Royals return to action Tuesday against the Giants. However, if manager Ned Yost opts to give Perez an extra day off, Drew Butera would draw in behind the plate for the Royals.
