McCann is not in the lineup Monday against the Astros, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Despite collecting hits in the past two games, McCann will head to the bench as the Tigers continue to ride the hot-hitting Alex Avila, who will draw the start behind the dish and bat second.

Gosewisch was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Gosewisch was just 2-for-28 (.071) across 11 games with the big club before being sent back to Tacoma. The veteran backstop was replaced by fellow catcher Mike Zunino on the roster. He'll continue to serve as organizational catching depth for the Mariners.

Mesoraco is not in the lineup Monday against the Indians, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Mesoraco has been raking since getting healthy, but he'll head to the bench for a night off on the heels of his second straight two-hit showing. Tucker Barnhart will assume catching duties for the night.

Sanchez (foot, quad) had a setback in his rehab assignment Sunday with Triple-A El Paso, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Eric O'Brien of CBS 4 adds that El Paso manager Rod Barajas said that Sanchez left his most recent game due to quad tightness. It's unclear how severe this new ailment is or how long it will be until Sanchez returns to action, but more should be revealed in the coming days.

D'Arnaud (wrist) caught all nine innings for Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI, but he'll remain on his rehab assignment for now, Justin Tasch of the New York Daily News reports.

The Mets will have d'Arnaud catch Steven Matz's (elbow) rehab start with Las Vegas on Tuesday, and if everything goes well, he should come off the DL soon afterwards. The 28-year-old backstop is slashing .203/.288/.475 through 22 big-league games this season, and d'Arnaud may have to split time with the hot-hitting Rene Rivera once he's back.

Gomes went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, five RBI and two runs Sunday in Houston.

The catcher's five RBI tied a career high and pushed his season total to 11. Gomes' .815 OPS through 30 games is his highest mark since 2013. He's demonstrating better plate discipline than ever before. Gomes' 9.6 percent walk rate and 17.3 percent strikeout rate are both the best marks in his five-plus major-league campaigns.

Mejia (groin) was activated from the minor-league DL at Double-A Akron on Friday.

The Tribe's top prospect wasted no time making his presence felt upon returning to the RubberDucks lineup. Over the weekend, the 21-year-old went 3-for-6 with a double, two homers and three RBI. Mejia is slashing .307/.344/.534 through his first 23 games in the Eastern League.

Grandal went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Marlins.

He's only had two games in May where he didn't collect a hit, so LA's backstop is certainly in the midst of one of his hot streaks, and it's lifted his slash line to .299/.362/.469. Grandal's propensity to strike out and go on long cold stretches means he's unlikely to keep such a high average all season, but he's one of the more attractive power bats at his position in a strong lineup. Enjoy this hot streak while it lasts.

Vazquez went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 12-3 win over the Athletics.

Despite hitting .329 on the season, Vazquez has slumped in May and continues to lose valuable playing time to hot-hitting Sandy Leon. A career-high .400 BABIP for Vazquez also points to likely regression. He's strictly a fantasy asset in two-catcher or deep AL-only leagues while hitting in a strong Boston lineup.

Contreras went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 13-6 win over the Brewers.

Contreras may not hit for much of an average with a 27.6 percent strikeout rate, but something can be said for his 22 RBI in 134 plate appearances in one of the strongest all-around lineups in baseball. He'll continue to be one of the more attractive young fantasy catchers in the game.
