Nationals' Drew Millas: Out for season after surgery
Nationals interim manager Miguel Cairo said Friday that Millas will not return this season after undergoing surgery Friday to stabilize the fracture and repair the joint on his left index finger, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Millas suffered the injury on a catcher's interference during Wednesday's game against the Yankees. The Nationals expect him to be ready for the beginning of spring training.

Cardinals' Yohel Pozo: Placed on concussion injured list
The Cardinals placed Pozo on the 7-day concussion injured list Friday.
Pozo was able to remain in the game after being shaken up by a foul tip to the mask Thursday against the Pirates, but concussion symptoms eventually surfaced and he'll have to miss some time. The Cardinals will go with Jimmy Crooks and Pedro Pages at catcher while Pozo is sidelined.

Kirk's right hand swelled up after being hit by a foul tip during Tuesday's game. While he finished Tuesday's contest, he was held out of Wednesday's game. The catcher will make his return to the starting lineup Friday and will look to extend his five-game hit streak.

Cardinals' Jimmy Crooks: Officially added to MLB roster
The Cardinals selected Crooks' contract from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.
Crooks has slashed .337/.404/.518 with three home runs in August with Memphis and has hit .274/.337/.441 with 14 home runs there for the full season. The left-handed hitter could be worth a look in fantasy leagues if the Cardinals use him on the long side of a platoon at catcher with Pedro Pages. Crooks is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Cincinnati against righty Zack Littell, though the Cardinals could just be giving him a day to get settled in.

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Narvaez has been ceding more work to Connor Wong recently, and it'll be Wong who starts Friday's game behind the dish. Including Friday, both catchers have made five starts in Boston's last 10 games.

The Nationals selected Stubbs' contract from Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
The former Astros farmhand will take the place of Drew Millas (finger) on the active roster. Stubbs will be making his MLB debut when he gets into a game and is set to serve as Riley Adams' backup at catcher.

The Nationals placed Millas on the 10-day injured list Friday with a fractured and dislocated left index finger.
Millas suffered the injury when he was struck by an Austin Wells swing during Wednesday's game against the Yankees. The Nationals haven't revealed a timeline for Millas' return, but there's a good chance he's done for the season.

The Cardinals will place Pozo on the 7-day concussion injured list prior to Friday's contest in Cincinnati, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Pozo was examined by the trainer after taking a foul tip off his mask Thursday. and while he stayed in and finished the game, he subsequently displayed symptoms of a concussion. Jimmy Crooks is being called up from Triple-A Memphis to take Pozo's spot on the active roster and split catching duties with Pedro Pages.

Pozo was checked out by the Cardinals' training staff Thursday and stayed in to finish the contest, but that doesn't preclude concussion symptoms from surfacing later. Catcher Jimmy Crooks is expected to be promoted from Triple-A Memphis, which could point to Pozo being placed on the 7-day concussion injured list.

The Cardinals will call up Crooks from Triple-A Memphis prior to Friday's game against the Reds, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Crooks is ready for an opportunity at the major-league level after slashing .274/.337/.441 with 14 home runs this season with Memphis. The 24-year-old has been red hot in August, producing a .337/.404/.518 line with three long balls. It's not clear what the corresponding move will be to get Crooks on the active roster, but Yohel Pozo was shaken up by a foul tip off the mask Thursday. If Pozo needs to miss time, Crooks could share catching duties with Pedro Pages.
