  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Resting for early game

Realmuto is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals.

Rafael Marchan will start behind the plate in Game 1, but expect Realmuto to handle the catching duties in the second contest of the day. Through his first nine games of May, Realmuto is slashing .290/.389/.484 with one home run, five runs, five RBI and a 5:5 BB:K.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Sitting out early game

Jeffers is not in the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader in Baltimore.

Jeffers will likely start behind the plate in the second game of the twin bill. Christian Vazquez will handle catching duties and bat ninth in the first game of the day.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Big day at plate

Baldwin went 3-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and two additional runs scored in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Nationals.

Starting at catcher and batting fifth, Baldwin got Atlanta on the board by taking Michael Soroka deep in the fourth inning. The rookie is muscling his way into a timeshare behind the plate with Sean Murphy, and so far in May, Baldwin's batting .556 (10-for-18) with two doubles, two homers, four runs and five RBI.

  • Will Smith C | LAD

Dodgers' Will Smith: Raps out three hits

Smith went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's 11-1 loss to the Athletics.

This was Smith's fifth multi-hit effort over 10 games in May. He's batting .364 (12-for-33) with three doubles and four RBI over that span. For the season, the catcher has been excellent with a .330 average, .915 OPS, three home runs, 21 RBI, 14 runs scored, two steals and eight doubles across 34 contests. Smith occupies a starting role behind the dish, usually ceding only one or two starts per week to Austin Barnes.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Rays' Danny Jansen: First homer since April 11

Jansen went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Jansen has picked up the majority of his playing time against left-handed pitching of late, but he's now made consecutive starts against righties. He delivered with the opportunity Tuesday, slugging a leadoff homer in the seventh inning -- his first long ball since April 11. It's a small sample, but Jansen has gone 7-for-27 with only an 11.8 percent strikeout rate across his last 10 starts.

  • Henry Davis RF | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Struggling with limited opportuntiy

Davis went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI on Tuesday against the Mets.

Davis has drawn consecutive starts for the first time since mid-April, with Joey Bart serving as designated hitter in the absence of Oneil Cruz (back). It may be unfair to judge Davis based on his sporadic playing time, but his ugly performance in the majors has continued in 2025 as he is hitting only .135/.220/.216 across 42 plate appearances. The lone positive is that he's striking out just 16.7 percent of the time, nearly half of his 29.2 percent rate in 415 big-league plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Jeferson Quero: Makes season debut

Quero (hamstring), per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, "played his first minor-league game of the season Monday... for Milwaukee's Arizona Complex League club."

A hamstring injury delayed Quero's start to the season, but he seems to be nearing a full recovery. The 22-year-old missed nearly all of last season with a shoulder injury, but he remains both one of Milwaukee's top prospects and one of the better catching prospects league-wide.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Padres' Elias Diaz: Taking seat Tuesday

Diaz isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Diaz will give way to Martin Maldonado behind the dish after the former went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the series opener Monday.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Passes concussion tests

Kirk (head) is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Rays on Tuesday.

Kirk was removed from Sunday's game against the Mariners after suffering a blow to the helmet on a Julio Rodriguez backswing. Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters that Kirk "passed every concussion test" and will likely be available off the bench for Tuesday's contest, per Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. With Kirk on the bench, Tyler Heineman will start behind home plate and bat eighth.

  • Rangers' Kyle Higashioka: Returns from 10-day IL

The Rangers activated Higashioka (intercostal) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Higashioka has been out for all of May with a mild left intercostal strain but is ready to go after playing in two rehab games. Tucker Barnhart remains on the roster, so the Rangers will carry three catchers for the time being.
