Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco is hoping to be back Sunday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. 

Mesoraco is coming back from an oblique injury, and was abel to run the bases Friday. He said he felt "normal" after the workout. Mesoraco is eligible to come off the disabled list Sunday.

Mesoraco was hitting .468 in 47 at-bats prior to the injury.

Indians catcher Yan Gomes was 1 for 4 with a solo home run in his team's 4-3 win over the Twins Wednesday.

Gomes knocked a fifth-inning homer to give his team a 3-1 lead, but he also committed his ninth error of the season in the win. He has hit .255/.295/.459 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 98 at-bats.

Between the 50-game suspension to begin last season and the torn ACL to end it, Yasmani Grandal has given Fantasy owners ample reason to forget about him. But with three home runs in his last five games, he's doing his best to help them remember.

To remember that, as a rookie two years ago, he hit .297 with eight home runs in 192 at-bats with a near 1-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio. To remember that, at the time of his injury last year, he was just beginning to find his form, batting .281 with six doubles and a stellar .425 on-base percentage in his final 11 games. To remember that, in his days with the Reds before the Mat Latos trade, he was a big-time prospect who some evaluators considered superior to Devin Mesoraco.

Even more encouraging than the home runs is the fact that he's started four straight games and six of the last seven. The Padres didn't want him catching back-to-back games to begin the year, hoping to give his knee a little more time to heal, but they seem to be relaxing their approach to him now, even working him into the lineup at first base from time to time.

If you're burned out on Travis d'Arnaud in a deeper league and looking to give someone else to try, Grandal has arguably just as much upside.

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal went 1 for 4 with a solo home run in his team's 3-1 loss to the Royals Tuesday.

Granadal smacked his home run in the fourth inning, giving his team a 1-0 lead, but they were unable to stay ahead and couldn't manage to score in extra innings. He has hit .253/.333/.493 with four home runs and 11 RBI in 75 at-bats.

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal tied Monday's game against the Royals with a three-run blast in the sixth inning, his third homer in 71 at-bats. Grandal is up to 10 RBI this season.

In a four-game hitting streak that's raised his average to .254, Grandal is 5 for 16 with two homers, five RBI and three runs scored.

Giants catcher Hector Sanchez went 4 for 7 with three RBI in his team's 11-10, 13-inning win over the Pirates Monday.

Sanchez's output exemplified a Giants offensive attack that racked up 20 hits against the Pirates but managed just three extra-base hits, all doubles. The San Francisco catcher knocked RBI singles in the first, sixth and seventh innings. He has hit .239/.260/.413 with two home runs and 14 RBI in 46 at-bats.

Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado finally put one over the fences Monday night against the Diamondbacks.

Maldonado took starter Mike Bolsinger deep for a two-run home run in the second inning. He added a double and finished 2 for 3 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBI in an 8-3 victory. He is hitting .350 with one home run and three RBI.

The Indians reinstated catcher Yan Gomes from the paternity list prior to Monday's game against the Twins, the Associated Press reports. Gomes missed two games while on paternity leave. He is hitting .261 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 88 at-bats.

Royals catcher Salvador Perez returned to the starting lineup Sunday against the Tigers after sitting out Saturday with a shin injury. Perez is batting .157 (8 for 51) with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI in his last 13 games.

Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco is scheduled to jog in the outfield Sunday as he continues to recover from hamstring strain, MLB.com reports.

"I've been doing some strengthening and some stretches and everything feels fine," Mesoraco said Saturday. "I got some throwing in today and we'll do some [jogging] tomorrow and, hopefully, some running soon."

Mesoraco was one of the hottest hitters in the majors before being placed on the disabled list, hitting .468/.509/.787 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 47 at-bats.
