  • Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: Placed on IL

Del Castillo (shoulder) was placed on Triple-A Reno's 7-day injured list Saturday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Del Castillo was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain, and he's expected to be out of action for at least a month, per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. Del Castillo was unable to crack the Diamondbacks' Opening Day roster after losing out to Jose Herrera for backup catching duties.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Padres' Elias Diaz: Sitting again Saturday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.

Diaz will sit for a second consecutive game Saturday, as the Padres will opt to give Martin Maldonado another start following his 2-for-3 performance Friday.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Getting breather Saturday

Wong isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus Texas, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Wong is off to a 1-for-7 start two games into the new season, and he'll now receive a day to rest while Carlos Narvaez starts behind the plate and bats eighth.

  • Yainer Diaz C | HOU

    Astros' Yainer Diaz: Idle Saturday

Diaz is out of the lineup Saturday against the Mets, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

After going 1-for-7 with an RBI and two strikeouts through his first two games, Diaz will step aside Saturday while Victor Caratini starts behind the plate.

  • Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Getting rest Saturday

Rodriguez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Rodriguez has gone 0-for-6 with four strikeouts through the first two games of Pittsburgh's season. He'll get a chance to regroup Saturday while Jared Triolo starts at first base and bats seventh.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Day off Saturday

Lee isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels.

Lee went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Thursday's win, but he'll retreat to the bench Saturday in favor of Matt Thaiss.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Sitting down Saturday

Jeffers isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against St. Louis.

Jeffers and Christian Vazquez are expected to split reps behind the dish this season, and the Twins will give the latter a chance to start Saturday after Jeffers started the season opener Thursday.

  • Ben Rice 1B | NYY

Yankees' Ben Rice: Idle against southpaw

Rice isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.

With southpaw Nestor Cortes set to throw the first pitch for Milwaukee, the lefty-hitting Rice will remain on the bench to begin the game. Jasson Dominguez will serve as the DH instead while Cody Bellinger starts in left field, allowing Trent Grisham to start in center and bat ninth.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Goes yard in first start of season

Dingler went 2-for-5 with a triple, a home run and three RBI in Friday's 8-5 extra-inning loss to the Dodgers.

After Jake Rogers got the nod behind the plate in the Tigers' opener Thursday, it was Dingler's turn Friday and he made an immediate impact with his bat when he launched a second-inning solo shot off Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The 26-year-old backstop then nearly played hero with a two-run triple in the top of the 10th, only for Beau Brieske to blow the save in the bottom of the frame. Dingler flashed some big power in the minors, including 17 homers in only 71 games at Triple-A Toledo in 2024, and if the second-round pick in the 2020 First-Year Player Draft gets rolling, he could muscle his way into a significant role for Detroit.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Rounds bases twice

Heim went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs in Texas' 4-1 win over the Red Sox on Friday.

Swatting a pair of home runs is not a bad way to collect your first two hits of the season, and with that, Heim now has two multi-HR games across his five seasons in the majors. His first home run in the third inning Friday barely cleared the right-field wall, but his fifth-inning shot was a bit more convincing at 417 feet. Although Heim didn't start the season opener, he's expected to remain the Rangers' 1A this season and is showing early signs of a bounce-back campaign after finishing 2024 with a .603 OPS.
