  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Resting Friday

Dingler is not in the Tigers' starting lineup against the Royals on Friday.

Dingler will take a seat for the second game of the series, with Tomas Nido starting behind home plate and batting eighth against Royals southpaw Cole Ragans. Dingler is slashing .306/.320/.510 with five runs scored, two home runs and nine RBI across 50 plate appearances this season.

  • Mets' Chris Suero: Hot start at High-A

Suero is batting .375 (13-for-37) with six doubles and five home runs in 10 games for High-A Brooklyn.

The 21-year-old catcher is repeating the level after finishing the 2024 campaign at High-A, but Suero is making a strong case for a quick promotion. Per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Suero has been getting defensive reps at first base and left field and might even see time in center field, as the organization tries to take full advantage of his athleticism. He'll need to improve his plate discipline (2:14 BB:K at Brooklyn to begin the year) to thrive at higher levels, however.

  • Rob Brantly C | MIA

Marlins' Rob Brantly: Three hits in Thursday's loss

Brantly went 3-for-3 with an RBI in Thursday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

The veteran backstop picked up his first hits and first RBI of 2025 in his second game for the Marlins this season. Brantly doesn't offer a lot of upside at the plate given his career .227/.287/.325 slash line in the majors, but with Liam Hicks struggling (.522 OPS over 45 plate appearances), Brantly could see more playing time than expected while Nick Fortes (oblique) is on the shelf.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Homers again Thursday

Raleigh went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Thursday's 11-7 win over the Reds.

Raleigh got Seattle's comeback started in the ninth inning with a 422-foot blast off Emilio Pagan to lead off the frame. It's the third homer in two games for Raleigh and his eighth of the year, good for second most in the majors. The 28-year-old catcher is slashing .216/.310/.581 with 12 runs scored, 11 RBI and three stolen bases through his first 84 plate appearances this season.

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Belts solo homer

Hedges went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in Thursday's 6-2 loss to Cleveland.

Hedges battled Tomoyuki Sugano in a nine-pitch at-bat in the third inning, with the former coming out on top with a solo homer to left field to give the Guardians a temporary 2-1 lead. Across his six starts this season, Hedges has gone 3-for-15 with five walks, two runs scored and two solo homers. He should continue to see semi-regular starts as Cleveland's No. 2 backstop.

  • Rangers' Malcolm Moore: Suffers broken finger

Moore was placed on the injured list at High-A Hub City on Thursday with a broken finger on his right hand, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Moore suffered the injury on a foul tip Wednesday and will now likely be held out of action for an extended period of time. The Rangers' 2024 first-round selection was off to a strong start in High-A ball this season, slashing .267/.463/.467 with a homer, three RBI and six runs scored through nine games.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Back in action Thursday

O'Hoppe (illness) will start at catcher and bat fifth Thursday against the Rangers.

O'Hoppe missed two games while fighting off an illness, but he seems to be fully healthy entering Thursday's contest. The 25-year-old has been scorching out of the gate with a .327/.340/.653 slash line and five homers through his first 50 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Tracking toward return on homestand

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Thursday that Alvarez (hand) could be activated from the 10-day injured list before the team's homestand ends April 23, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Alvarez will catch back-to-back, nine-inning rehab games with Double-A Binghamton on Friday and Saturday and, if that goes well, the club will have "a conversation" about the catcher's status, per Mendoza. A day of rest seems likely after Alvarez catches back-to-back contests, which points to a return Monday versus the Phillies. Alvarez is coming back from surgery on a fractured hamate bone in his left hand.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Riding pine Thursday

Wells is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.

The Yankees will give Wells a chance to regroup after the 25-year-old managed just one hit -- a solo home run -- in 11 at-bats during New York's previous series against Kansas City. J.C. Escarra will fill in behind the plate Thursday and bat seventh.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATH

    Rangers' Jonah Heim: Sitting Thursday

Heim isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.

After going just 2-for-14 with a run scored and five strikeouts over his last four games, Heim will give way behind the plate to Kyle Higashioka on Thursday.
