Bailey is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Bailey will yield to Curt Casali, who was activated off the injured list Friday, behind the dish for the series opener against Detroit. Bailey is in the middle of a slump, having one hit and nine strikeouts in his last 30 at-bats.

Giants' Curt Casali: Back with team

The Giants reinstated Casali from the paternity list Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

After staying at home during the Giants' three-game road series against the Nationals, Casali has rejoined the team in time for Friday's series opener against the Tigers. Jakson Reetz was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

  • Jakson Reetz C | SEA

Giants' Jakson Reetz: Optioned to Sacramento

The Giants optioned Reetz to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

The move makes room for the reinstatement of catcher Curt Casali from the paternity list. Reetz was called up from Sacramento on Tuesday. In his lone outing Thursday against the Nationals, Reetz went 1-for-2 with one double and one walk. In the minors this season, he's slashing .250/.362/.428 with five home runs and 31 RBI across 214 plate appearances.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Taking seat for nightcap

Jeffers is out of the lineup for the second game of a doubleheader against the Guardians on Friday.

After catching Game 1 and going 1-for-3 at the dish with a solo homer, Jeffers will get a breather for the nightcap. Christian Vazquez will catch and bat eighth.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Idle Friday

Stephenson isn't in the Reds' lineup for Friday's game versus the Brewers.

Stepehnson will get a breather during Friday's series opener after going 6-for-18 with a homer and four RBI during a four-game set against Miami. Luke Maile will do the catching for right-hander Carson Spiers and bat ninth.

  • Jose Herrera C | TEX

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Getting breather Friday

Herrera is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Adrian Del Castillo will start behind home plate Friday and bat fifth against Philadelphia right-hander Zack Wheeler. Herrera went 1-for-3 with one strikeout in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: Sitting Friday

Fermin is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

The 29-year-old will yield to Paul DeJong at DH on Friday. In his last seven games, Fermin is 10-for-29 (.345) with a homer, six RBI and a run scored.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Taking seat Friday

Rutschman is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

It's a routine day off for Rutschman, who was recently demoted from second to fifth in the Orioles' batting order. He's slashed just .162/.276/.263 since the beginning of July. James McCann will do the catching for Zach Eflin.

  • Marlins' Jhonny Pereda: Collects first big-league hits

Pereda went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Thursday's extra-inning loss to the Reds.

Called up Wednesday when Nick Fortes (quad) landed on the IL, Pereda made his first start behind the plate and banged out his first career big-league hits and RBI. The 28-year-old minor-league journeyman will split work with Ali Sanchez while Fortes is sidelined, and Pereda's .310/.418/.458 slash line for Triple-A Jacksonville this season at least offers some hope that he might be able to contribute at the plate.
