Delay recently underwent surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Delay is expected to be ready to resume baseball activities in six weeks and it figures to be several weeks after that before he might be ready to return to the Pirates. Pittsburgh is currently using Henry Davis and Joey Bart as its catching duo, but Yasmani Grandal (foot) recently began a rehab assignment.

McGuire is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Manager Alex Cora continue to split playing time behind the plate relatively evenly, with Connor Wong receiving the start Friday. McGuire has scuffled offensively over his past six games, going 3-for-16 with six strikeouts.

Gomes is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest against the Marlins.

It's a routine day off for the veteran backstop. Miguel Amaya will do the catching for Jameson Taillon while Gomes takes a seat.

Heim went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 9-7 win over Detroit.

Heim extended a hit streak to six games with a second-inning homer to put the Rangers up 4-0. The catcher has launched three home runs with 15 RBI (third on team) over 17 games. Heim is batting .348 (8-for-23) with runners in scoring position.

Moreno (thumb) will start at catcher and bat sixth in Thursday's game against the Giants.

Moreno hadn't started either of the Diamondbacks' previous two games due to a bruised right thumb, but he had been included in the initial lineup Wednesday before being scratched. He ended up appearing as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Cubs, and he now looks like he'll be ready to not only hit but also play defense in Thursday's series opener.

Perez (groin) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-2 win over the White Sox in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Perez returned from a Grade 1 left groin strain Wednesday and delivered the key hit in the Royals' matinee win. He also went 0-for-2 with two walks in the nightcap while serving as the designated hitter. He appears good to go moving forward after the injury scare. The veteran catcher is off to a hot start with five homers, 17 RBI, nine runs scored and two doubles while slashing .324/.370/.574 over 18 contests this season.

Bailey went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Marlins.

Bailey's steal was his first of 2024, matching his total from 97 contests in 2023. As a catcher, speed is often not high on the list of priorities. He's cooled off after posting three multi-hit efforts over his first five games this season, but Bailey is still batting .286 with a .765 OPS, one home run, four RBI, three runs scored and two doubles over 51 plate appearances.

Alvarez went 1-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Pirates.

The 22-year-old doesn't run much, but he's never been caught stealing in the majors, going 3-for-3 in 143 MLB games. Alvarez is struggling to get going at the plate this year, slashing .241/.293/.370 through 15 games with a homer, a steal, seven runs and eight RBI, but he remains locked in as the Mets' near-everyday catcher.

Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Rortvedt has started in just one of the Rays' last five games. The first three of those absences came against left-handed starting pitchers, but the lefty-hitting Rortvedt will give way to the right-handed-hitting Rene Pinto on Thursday even while right-hander Griffin Canning takes the hill for the Angels.

O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

He'll receive a breather for the day game after drawing starts at catcher both of the past two days. Matt Thaiss will check in behind the plate and will form a battery with starting pitcher Griffin Canning.
