  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Likely available Saturday

Manager Brandon Hyde said Rutschman (illness) will probably be available for Saturday's game against the Red Sox, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rutschman was scratched from the lineup Friday because he was feeling under the weather the day after the Orioles clinched the AL East title. James McCann filled in at catcher and went 0-for-2 with a walk and two strikeouts in Baltimore's sleepy 3-0 loss to Boston.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Takes seat Friday

Bailey is out of the lineup Friday against the Dodgers.

Blake Sabol will catch and bat eighth for the Giants. Bailey has enjoyed some promising stretches this season, but the 24-year-old is slashing just .127/.172/.146 with 21 strikeouts in 58 plate appearances since the beginning of September.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Giants' Joey Bart: Optioned to Triple-A

The Giants optioned Bart to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bart has spent most of this season in the minors and will now finish out the year there. Selected second overall in the 2018 MLB Draft out of Georgia Tech, the 26-year-old catcher owns a highly disappointing .219/.288/.335 career slash line in 503 major-league plate appearances. He could be a trade candidate this winter.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Not in lineup Friday

Langeliers is not in the lineup Friday against the Angels.

Langeliers takes a seat after going 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in Thursday's series finale at Minnesota. Tyler Soderstrom is starting behind the plate and batting ninth for the Athletics on Friday at Angel Stadium.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Orioles' James McCann: Added to lineup Friday

McCann was added to the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Adley Rutschman has been scratched due to an illness, so McCann will now start behind the plate and bat eighth versus the Red Sox and right-hander Nick Pivetta. Ryan O'Hearn is serving as the Orioles' designated hitter.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Scratched from lineup Friday

Rutschman was scratched from the lineup Friday versus the Red Sox due to an illness, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Rutschman has no need to push himself to play through the bug after the Orioles officially clinched the AL East title Thursday. James McCann is now catching and batting eighth Friday against the Red Sox and right-hander Nick Pivetta.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Sitting fourth straight

Campusano isn't in the Padres' lineup Friday against the White Sox.

Campusano hadn't appeared in the Padres' last three games either despite going 11-for-23 (.478) during a six-game hitting streak prior to that, but there's been no news of an injury for the 25-year-old catcher. Brett Sullivan will start behind the plate and bat seventh Friday.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Sits down Friday

Murphy isn't in Atlanta's lineup Friday against the Nationals, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Murphy will sit on the bench for the second straight game Friday while Travis d'Arnaud starts behind the plate and bats seventh. Murphy has recorded just one hit -- a home run -- in 20 at-bats over his last six games.

  • Riley Adams C | WAS

Nationals' Riley Adams: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Nationals transferred Adams (wrist) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Adams underwent season-ending surgery on his left hand/wrist Sept. 11, so his move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural. The 27-year-old slashed .273/.331/.476 with 21 RBI through 158 plate appearances in 2023, and he is expected to be fully recovered before the start of spring training. Tanner Rainey (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list to fill Adams' spot on the 40-man roster.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Pops 21st home run

Rogers went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's suspended game against the Royals, which resumed Thursday.

Rogers hit his 21st home run of the season in the eighth inning as he continues to increase his career-best total. He came into the year with 10 total long balls in his first two MLB campaigns. Heading into 2024, Rogers has established some fantasy value due to his power potential and his role as Detroit's top catcher, though his upside is capped due to his high strikeout rate and perennially low batting average.
