  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Absent from lineup

Campusano is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rockies, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The Padres are playing an afternoon game, so Campusano will get a breather after starting six straight. Brett Sullivan is doing the catching for Seth Lugo on Wednesday.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Getting day off

Langeliers is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Mariners.

Langeliers will get a breather for Wednesday's afternoon tilt after starting each of the last three games. Tyler Soderstrom will do the catching for Joey Estes.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Laces triple in loss

Langeliers went 1-for-3 with an RBI triple, a walk and a run in a loss to the Mariners on Tuesday.

Langeliers drove home the Athletics' first run of the night in the seventh inning with his timely three-bagger, which scored Aledmys Diaz. The 25-year-old has established a new personal best with four triples overall in 2023 after recording one during his first taste of the big leagues in 2022, and he's added 37 additional extra-base hits this season in the form of 17 doubles and 20 home runs. That's helped coax his slugging percentage over the .400 mark (.402), but a .202 average and .265 OBP have dragged down his slash line overall.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Gets rest day

Naylor is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Royals.

Naylor was behind the plate Tuesday night, so he will get a breather for Wednesday's day game. The catcher went 2-for-8 with a home run in the first two games of the series against the Royals. In his place, Cam Gallagher will start and bat ninth.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Resting Wednesday

Wong is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Rangers.

Wong is hitting .205 with one home run, five runs and three RBI in 11 September games. Reese McGuire is starting behind the dish and batting eighth.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: Leads charge in comeback win

Contreras went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run, a second run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Cardinals.

After the Brewers fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, Contreras sparked the comeback by taking Drew Rom deep in the third. The 25-year-old backstop has hit safely in seven straight games and 12 of the last 13 as Milwaukee tries to lock up the NL Central title, slashing .314/.400/.451 over the latter stretch with two homers, three steals, eight RBI and 10 runs.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Heads to bench Wednesday

Realmuto is not in Wednesday's lineup against Atlanta.

Realmuto had started five straight games and seven of the last eight. Garrett Stubbs is starting behind the dish in his place.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Day off Wednesday

Stephenson is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Twins.

After starting six straight games, Stephenson will head to the bench for this day game after Tuesday's night game. Luke Maile, who is recovered from a bruised hand, is starting behind the dish and hitting ninth.

  • Luke Maile C | KC

Reds' Luke Maile: Returns to action

Maile (hand) is starting behind the dish and hitting ninth Wednesday against the Twins.

He has been out a few days with a bruised hand, but it's not an overly serious issue. Maile is hitting .059 with two runs and one RBI in 17 at-bats this month.

  • Dodgers' Diego Cartaya: Ends season on shelf

Cartaya has been on the 7-day injured list with Double-A Tulsa since Aug. 30.

There were also rumors on X that Cartaya was placed on the development list, but nonetheless, his final game of the season was Aug. 27. Cartaya hit .189 with 19 home runs and 117 strikeouts in 93 games for the Drillers in a very disappointing first season at the level. He is already on the 40-man roster and seemingly far from helping the big-league club, so the Dodgers' long-term belief in Cartaya could be tested this offseason.
