Freddy Fermin C | SD
Royals' Freddy Fermin: Goes deep in Sunday's win
Fermin went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Twins.
Fermin blasted a 420 foot shot to left center field off Kenta Maeda in the second inning for his second home run in his last four games. The long ball also extended his hitting streak to a modest six games, a stretch during which he's recorded multi-hit efforts four times. Fermin is now up to a slash line of .299/.346/.504 with 13 extra-base hits, 22 RBI and 16 runs in 137 plate appearances and should continue to see the bulk of his starts behind the dish.

Gary Sanchez C | MIL
Padres' Gary Sanchez: Belts two homers
Sanchez went 2-for-4 with two solo homers in Sunday's win over the Rangers.
Sanchez went deep in the fourth and fifth innings to lead the Padres to a series sweep. While he's cooled down this month, the veteran catcher has still knocked five home runs while registering a .795 OPS in 19 July games. For the season, he's slashing .213/.289/.475 with 18 extra-base hits and 32 RBI.

Adley Rutschman C | BAL
Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Gets aboard four times
Rutschman went 3-for-4 with a walk, one RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Yankees.
Rutschman was at leadoff for the second game in a row, and he set the tone well by logging two of his hits in the first inning. He's gotten on base in six of his eight plate appearances atop the order over the last two contests. The catcher is slashing .272/.374/.427 with 14 home runs, 47 RBI, 52 runs scored and 17 doubles through 100 games this season. Aside from a lack of speed, Rutschman's strong plate discipline makes him a solid option to stay at leadoff for as long as manager Brandon Hyde is interested in him being there.

James McCann C | ARI
Orioles' James McCann: Picks up rare steal
McCann went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and a stolen base in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Yankees.
McCann's modest five-game hitting streak came to an end, but he made the most of his one trip on base after getting plunked. The steal was his second of the season, putting him one theft shy of matching his total from last year. The backup catcher has a .195/.231/.333 slash line with three home runs, 10 RBI, 12 runs scored and eight doubles over 41 contests. He's likely to remain limited with Adley Rutschman securing most of the playing time behind the dish.

Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: X-rays negative
Smith (elbow) underwent X-rays that came back negative Sunday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Smith was hit by a pitch in the first inning of Sunday's game against the Reds and was later removed due to what was deemed a left elbow contusion. Further testing didn't reveal any structural damage, and he hopes to be available for Tuesday's matchup against the Athletics.

Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Exits with bruised elbow
Smith was removed from Sunday's game against the Reds with a left elbow contusion.
Smith was hit by a pitch on the left elbow during the opening frame Sunday and was pulled from the contest before making another plate appearance. The 28-year-old should be considered day-to-day and will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery before Tuesday's matchup with Oakland.

Gary Sanchez C | MIL
Padres' Gary Sanchez: Splitting catching, DH duties
Sanchez will start at catcher and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Rangers.
The recent arrival of Brett Sullivan from Triple-A El Paso to provide the Friars with a third option behind the plate looks as though it'll be beneficial to both Sanchez and Luis Campusano. The two have now both been included in the lineup in five consecutive games, with one starting at catcher and the other starting at designated hitter. The Padres' remaining bench options beyond Sullivan (Matt Carpenter, Matthew Batten and Alfonso Rivas) haven't made compelling cases to see more work at DH, so Sanchez's playing time should be fairly secure while he's been able to stay productive at the plate. In 11 games since the All-Star break, Sanchez has slashed .235/.341/.559 with three home runs and 5:4 BB:K.

Luis Campusano C | SD
Padres' Luis Campusano: Sharing catching, DH duties
Campusano will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Rangers.
After calling up Brett Sullivan from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday to provide the team with a third catcher, the Padres look set to include both Campusano and Gary Sanchez in the lineup simultaneously on a more frequent basis, with one starting at designated hitter and the other starting behind the plate. Campusano will pick up his sixth consecutive start Sunday, while Sanchez sticks in the lineup for a fifth straight game.

Connor Wong C | BOS
Red Sox's Connor Wong: Resting Sunday
Wong is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Wong will get a well-deserved breather after he started at catcher in each of Boston's previous five games. Jorge Alfaro will form a battery with starting pitcher Brennan Bernardino in Sunday's series finale.
