  • Chad Wallach C | ATH

Angels' Chad Wallach: Activated, starting Monday

Wallach (concussion) will start at catcher and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Orioles after the Angels reinstated him from the 7-day injured list, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Wallach ended up spending just over the minimum amount of time on the shelf with what was an apparently mild concussion. Though Wallach will get the nod behind the dish in the series opener in Baltimore, the lefty-hitting Matt Thaiss -- who owns a solid .767 OPS on the season -- could end up getting the bulk of the starts at catcher when the Angels face right-handed pitching.

  • Elias Diaz C | TEX

    Rockies' Elias Diaz: Resting Monday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.

Diaz started behind the plate each of the past three days, so he's presumably just getting a routine breather as the Rockies open a three-game series with the Reds. Austin Wynns will catch for starting pitcher Connor Seabold on Monday.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Goes deep again Sunday

Perez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

Perez got going quickly with a 433-foot blast to center field to put the Royals up 1-0. He singled his next time up in the third and wound up scoring again. Perez has already collected six multi-hit efforts over 12 games in May and is slashing .381/.438/.857 with six homers, 10 RBI, 13 runs and a 4:11 BB:K over that span. After Sunday, Perez sits at nine home runs, which has put him in a tie with Sean Murphy for most among catchers.

  • Yainer Diaz C | HOU

Astros' Yainer Diaz: Hits first career home run

Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the White Sox.

Diaz led off the fourth with a solo blast to left field off of Lucas Giolito for his first career major league home run. The 24-year-old has rotated in behind the plate with Martin Maldonado but doesn't have a path to a near everyday role unless Maldonado is forced to miss time. Diaz is now slashing .217/.250/.348 with four RBI, sux runs and a 2:11 BB:K over 52 plate appearances.

  • Cardinals' Andrew Knizner: Homers in blowout win

Knizner went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 9-1 win over the Red Sox.

Knizner got a short run as the Cardinals' primary catcher over the last week, and he went 7-for-26 (.269) with a homer, four doubles, four RBI and five runs scored over the last seven games. Willson Contreras is expected to resume catching duties Monday, so Knizner's playing time is likely to drop off a bit again. The veteran backup has a .213/.238/.377 slash line with two homers, six RBI, eight runs scored and four doubles through 64 plate appearances this year.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Drives in all three runs in loss

Langeliers went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three RBI in Sunday's 11-3 loss to the Rangers.

Langeliers was responsible for both of the Athletics' scoring plays with an RBI single in the second inning and a two-run homer in the seventh. The catcher has hit safely in six of his last eight games, going 9-for-28 (.321) in that span. He's up to a .234/.309/.435 slash line with seven homers, 20 RBI, 17 runs scored, two doubles and a triple through 35 contests this season.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Two hits in return

Realmuto (finger) went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Rockies.

Realmuto missed one game with a sprained right pinkie finger. He was one of three Phillies with multiple hits and the only one to log an extra-base hit in the tough loss. He played the full game at catcher, so he should be good to resume his starting role going forward. Realmuto has hit safely in seven straight games, going 9-for-24 (.375), raising his season slash line to .291/.311/.496. He's added three home runs, 15 RBI, 13 runs scored, five stolen bases, 11 doubles and three triples through 34 contests overall.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Steps out of lineup

Wong is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Cardinals.

Wong is mired in a 1-for-17 slump and will head to the bench after starting the previous three games. Reese McGuire will take over at catcher and bat eighth in Sunday's series finale.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Takes seat Sunday

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's regularly scheduled game against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Ruiz played out the final five-plus frames of Saturday's suspended game and finished 2-for-4 with a double, and it's not a surprise he's out of the starting nine for Sunday's full contest. Riley Adams will step in behind the plate, batting ninth.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Rangers' Mitch Garver: Nearing rehab assignment

Manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that Garver (knee) is expected to begin a rehab assignment around May 23, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.

Garver's target date to return from the 10-day injured list was previously mentioned as May 23, but his activation date is now likely to be at least a few days beyond that. The 32-year-old played in just six games before he landed on the shelf with a knee sprain in early April, so he could require a handful of games in the minors before being cleared to rejoin the Rangers.
