Vogelbach will start as the designated hitter and bat in the cleanup spot for Saturday's game against the Rays.

Vogelbach made his 2024 debut Friday when he pinch hit for Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the seventh inning. Vogelbach will make his first start of the season Saturday, replacing Justin Turner in the DH spot against Rays right-hander Zack Littell.

Turner is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays.

Turner started at DH for the first two games of the season, going 1-for-8 with one double and two runs. Daniel Vogelbach will be the designated hitter Saturday and bat in the cleanup spot.

Garver was scratched from the Mariners' lineup before Friday's game against Boston due to back spasms, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Garver is officially listed as day-to-day, so his back shouldn't keep him out for very long. The 33-year-old veteran went 1-for-4 with a double in his Mariners debut Thursday and will operate as Seattle's primary DH this season.

Garver was scratched from the Mariners' lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Red Sox, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

It's unclear at this stage why Garver was taken out of Friday's lineup. Mitch Haniger will serve as Seattle's DH against Boston, moving Luke Raley to right field while Dominic Canzone fills the opening in left.

Rooker is not in the Athletics' lineup Friday against the Guardians.

Rooker was the Opening Day designated hitter but struggled at the plate, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. Switch hitter Abraham Toro will draw the start at DH on Friday against Guardians left-hander Logan Allen.

The Blue Jays selected Vogelbach's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

Vogelbach managed to squeeze onto the roster even as the Jays have Justin Turner at designated hitter and Vladimir Guerrero at first base. His best chance at playing time would be if Turner winds up being used at third base more than expected, but realistically Vogelbach is looking at a bench role.

The Yankees reassigned Torrens to minor-league camp Monday.

Torrens had a solid spring, but he was always destined for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start the season as long as the Yankees' catching corps was healthy. The 27-year-old has posted a .643 OPS over parts of six major-league seasons.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider announced Sunday that Vogelbach will be added to the major-league roster, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The 31-year-old joined Toronto as a non-roster invitee in February and earned a roster spot by posting an .895 OPS during spring training. The Blue Jays have Vladimir Guerrero and Justin Turner locked in at first base and designated hitter, respectively, so Vogelbach will mainly serve as a power source off the bench.

Ramirez is expected to see more playing time with Jonathan Aranda (finger) sidelined, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Aranda was in line for a large-side platoon role at DH with some possibility of getting additional at-bats at first base. However, he's now going to be sidelined for at least a month, leaving Ramirez to slide into the vacated playing time. Ramirez is a viable contributor when he gets regular opportunity, as he posted a .313/.353/.460 line across 434 plate appearances last season.

The Angels reassigned Calhoun to minor-league camp Friday.

Calhoun joined the Halos as a non-roster invitee over the winter but posted just a .628 OPS over 33 plate appearances during spring training. He's now likely headed for Triple-A Salt Lake.
