Ford went 2-for-4 with a double in a loss to the Twins on Tuesday.

Ford broke out of a funk with his first multi-hit effort of the second half, snapping an 0-for-10 slump that had encompassed his previous three games. The journeyman has locked in regular playing time against right-handed pitching with his best all-around big-league stint to date, as he's sporting a career-high .271 average and .934 OPS partly by averaging one extra-base hit every 7.6 plate appearances.

Alvarez (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Alvarez was originally scheduled to begin a rehab assignment in Triple-A on Friday, but it had to be pushed back after he came down with an illness. Now that he's feeling better, he'll return to game action for the first time since landing on the injured list June 9 with a strained right oblique. There's been no word on how long Alvarez might spend on assignment, but the Astros will likely be eager to activate one of their top hitters relatively quickly.

Jimenez (groin) is available to pinch hit Tuesday against the Mets, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Sunday that Jimenez was expected to miss up to five days due to groin soreness, but Jimenez is apparently feeling well enough to come off the bench Tuesday. Grifol added that Jimenez could be back in the lineup as the designated hitter Wednesday.

Jimenez (groin) is not in the White Sox' lineup Tuesday against the Mets.

Jimenez suffered a left groin injury Sunday in Atlanta and is expected to miss 4-to-5 days of action. The White Sox will go with Yasmani Grandal at designated hitter and Seby Zavala at catcher Tuesday.

Buxton is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Seattle, Patrick Reusse of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Matt Wallner will be the Twins' designated hitter. Reusse categorizes it as a "mental break" for Buxton, who is 0-for-21 with 13 strikeouts over his last five games. It hasn't been a total loss in roto leagues with Buxton hitting 15 homers and stealing eight bases in 2023. However, the 29-year-old is slashing just .196/.285/.409 on the season, and his 31.3 percent strikeout rate would be his highest since 2016.

Turner started at third base and went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 7-0 win over Oakland.

Turner got the call at third base after Rafael Devers was scratched due to a calf injury. It was Turner's sixth start at the hot corner. The Red Sox have a few hot hitters right now, but none have made the impact that Turner has. He's hit in 13 consecutive games while delivering runs in 11 of those contests. Turner has gone 20-for-49 with three home runs, five doubles, 17 RBI and 12 runs scored during his hit streak.

Ohtani went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and a walk in Monday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Yankees.

Ohtani continues to pummel the ball -- he's knocked four homers during his active six-game hitting streak. The two-way superstar had a chance at the cycle Monday, but struck out in the ninth inning to fall a triple shy of the feat. His homer Monday was his 35th of the campaign, surpassing his total from 157 contests last year in just 93 games this season. He's 11 shy of matching his career high from 2021. Ohtani has maintained a superb .306/.391/.677 slash line with 75 RBI, 68 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, 16 doubles and six triples.

Rooker went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Monday's 7-0 loss to the Red Sox.

Rooker missed Sunday's game versus the Twins with an illness. While his absence was short, he was unable to be a difference-maker Monday as the Athletics got one-hit by Boston. The outfielder is hitting just .242 in July, right in line with his .241/.335/.470 slash line through 81 contests overall.

Rooker (illness) is starting in left field and batting cleanup Monday versus the Red Sox, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Rooker will be back in the lineup after missing Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Twins while dealing with an illness, but he appears ready to go for Monday's series opener with Boston. The 28-year-old has gone 8-for-29 with three homers, five RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base over nine games in July.

Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in a loss to the Astros on Sunday.

Ohtani extended his MLB homer lead in the ninth inning with a solo shot to center field that brought the Angels to within one run. The two-way star has gone deep three times in his past four contests, driving in five runs over that span. Ohtani has already tied his long ball total from last season and is 12 homers away from the career-high 46 he swatted during his MVP 2021 campaign.
