  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Day off Tuesday

Choi is not starting Tuesday against the Rockies, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Choi's platoon role continues as he heads to the bench with lefty Kyle Freeland on the mound. Yandy Diaz starts at first base.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Could return in three weeks

Stanton (biceps) could return in three weeks, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Stanton was placed on the injured list with a biceps strain Monday and will avoid all baseball activities for 10 days. He'll then have to get back in game shape following that shutdown period, so a three-week absence appears to be a reasonable target. Clint Frazier should see regular game time in the near future with Aaron Hicks (back) also out.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Shut down for 10 days

Stanton will be shut down from all baseball activities for 10 days due to his strained left biceps, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.

Stanton reportedly suffered the injury while swinging. He'll still need to work his way back after the shutdown period, so the Yankees are currently framing his return date as "sometime this month."

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Hits injured list with biceps strain

Stanton was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left biceps strain Monday.

It's not clear when Stanton suffered the injury, nor is it clear how long he's expected to be out. He'd managed just two hits through his first three games but had only received eight at-bats, as he walked seven times. Clint Frazier will take his place on the roster.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Continues hot start

Martinez went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, two walks and three runs scored in Sunday's 10-8 loss to Seattle.

Martinez continues to stuff the stat sheet as he's driven in at least one run in all four games to start 2019. His fantasy stock has gone through the roof after his ridiculous 2018 season that ended with a top-five MVP finish. So far, he's living up to all the hype once again.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Delivers two base knocks

Buxton went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI against the Indians on Sunday.

After suffering a facial contusion a few days prior, Buxton pieced together a solid day at the dish and drove in a pair during the fourth inning on a double to left field. The 25-year-old outfielder has struggled with his health in the past, so it remains to be seen whether he can make it through the entire 2019 campaign relatively unscathed. Buxton was held to just 28 games a season ago.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Athletics' Mark Canha: Smacks first homer

Canha went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk in a win over the Angels on Saturday.

Canha drew the start in center field while Kendrys Morales handled first-base duties, although Canha is slated to see a fair share of time in the latter spot as well. Canha's round tripper was his first of the new season, and he should be set for fairly regular playing time for the foreseeable future during Matt Olson's (hand) extended absence.

  • Astros' Michael Brantley: Receives routine rest

Brantley is not starting Sunday against the Rays, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Brantley started the season hot, going 5-for-12 with a homer and a double through his first three games. He'll get a routine off day Sunday as the Astros seek to keep his workload in check. Josh Reddick, Jake Marisnick and George Springer will start from left to right across the outfield.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Back in lineup already

Cabrera (hand) is back in the lineup as a designated hitter Sunday against the Blue Jays, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Cabrera exited Saturday's contest after taking a pitch off his hand. X-rays were negative, and he won't be forced to miss a single game.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Day off Sunday

Choi is not starting Sunday against the Astros.

Choi started the team's first three games at first base but will sit Sunday with lefty Wade Miley on the mound. Yandy Diaz moves from third to first, with Daniel Robertson getting the start at third base.
