Rays' Brad Miller: Takes seat Wednesday
Miller isn't in Wednesday's lineup against the Athletics, Juan Toribio of The Athletic Tampa Bay reports.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Remains absent from lineup
Buxton isn't in Wednesday's starting lineup against Kansas City, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
It's unclear if Buxton is dealing with an injury, as Ryan LaMarre will take over in center field for the second consecutive game. If he is dealing with something, expect an update on his status prior to Thursday's series opener against Cleveland.

Miguel Cabrera DH | DET
Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Prepping for weekend return
Cabrera (hamstring) appears likely to return from the 10-day disabled list during the Tigers' weekend series with the Blue Jays, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Cabrera, who limited himself to batting practice Tuesday after going through intense baserunning and agility drills a day earlier, said he was "very close" to a return to the lineup, with Tigers skipper Ron Gardenhire seemingly supporting the first baseman's sentiments. While Gardenhire suggested it was unlikely Cabrera would be available for the final two games of the Tigers' current series with the Angels, Cabrera looks like he'll be ready to go in a few days once he builds up his conditioning and gets back in game shape following a nearly month-long layoff due to the right hamstring strain. Once Cabrera is back in the fold, John Hicks will likely transition to a bench role and see most of his playing time as the backup catcher behind James McCann.

Brad Miller DH | SD
Rays' Brad Miller: Returns to action Tuesday
Miller (face) is starting at first base and hitting leadoff Tuesday against the Athletics, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Miller is back in the starting lineup after being scratched from Monday's series opener with a facial contusion. He was able to play the final three innings of Monday's extra-innings victory, so his return to the starting lineup comes as no surprise. Miller is hitting .243/.309/.419 across 42 games this season.

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Will start Wednesday
Ohtani was officially named Wednesday's starting pitcher against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD
Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Not in lineup Tuesday
Ohtani is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Ohtani is scheduled to pitch Wednesday, so he'll take his usual seat on the bench for Tuesday's contest. With the 23-year-old situated on the bench, Albert Pujols will serve as the team's DH while Luis Valbuena will pick up a start at first base. Ohtani is hitting .291/.376/.553 through 117 plate appearances this season while also maintaining a 3.35 ERA and 11.6 K/9 across 40.1 innings (seven starts).

Kyle Lewis DH | ARI
Mariners' Kyle Lewis: Explodes for pair of homers Monday
Lewis went 4-for-5 with five RBI from a three-run home run and a two-run shot and scored three runs overall in High-A Modesto's win over Stockton on Monday.
The promising prospect's four total hits were a career high, while both his home run and RBI total matched career bests. Lewis is starting to hit his stride after missing more than the first month of the season with a knee injury, and factoring in Monday's production, he's now slashing .302/.327/.509 across 55 plate appearances.

J.D. Martinez DH | NYM
Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Blasts 17th homer Monday
Martinez went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo homer and an additional RBI in Monday's win over the Blue Jays.
