  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Not starting Saturday

Dickerson (back) is on the bench as expected Saturday against the Brewers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Dickerson left Friday's game with back tightness and was ruled out for Saturday's contest after the game. Brandon Belt will start in left field in his absence and could spend more time there until the Giants are fully confident in Dickerson's health, as he's had significant back problems in the past.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Sits again Saturday

Pederson remains out of the lineup Saturday against the Red Sox.

Chris Sale represents the second of three lefties the Red Sox will throw against the Dodgers, so Pederson remains stuck on the bench. Max Muncy again gets the nod at first base.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: On bench against lefty

Winker will sit against lefty Kyle Freeland and the Rockies on Saturday.

Winker hasn't started against a lefty since late May. Phillip Ervin will start in left field, as he's done against the previous six southpaws the Reds have faced.

  • Nick Solak DH | SD

Rangers' Nick Solak: Traded to Texas

Solak was traded from the Rays to the Rangers on Saturday in exchange for Peter Fairbanks.

Solak has spent the season with Triple-A Durham, hitting .266/.353/.485 with 17 homers and in 85 games. The 24-year-old is a well-rounded prospect who grades out as at least average in all five tools, but his drop in steals from 21 last year to just three so far this season certainly puts at least a small dent in his fantasy value. Getting out of Tampa Bay's organization, which is full of second basemen, could help him make a big-league impact sooner than expected. He'll head to Triple-A Nashville for now.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

    Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Activated Saturday

Choi (ankle) was activated from the injured list ahead of Saturday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

He will presumably slot in as either the first baseman or designated hitter, with Nate Lowe occupying the other role going forward. That said, Lowe's presence on the roster will likely lead to slightly more off days for Choi over the rest of the season.

  • AJ Reed DH | HOU

White Sox's AJ Reed: Makes White Sox debut

Reed went 1-for-4 in a 5-1 loss to the Athletics on Friday.

Reed made his debut with the White Sox after being claimed off waivers during the All-Star break. The left-handed-hitting Reed slotted in at seventh in the order while serving as the designated hitter against Oakland right-hander Mike Fiers. The big-bodied 26-year-old will get an opportunity with the White Sox and has a power stroke that could make him this year's Daniel Palka, who had 27 home runs for Chicago in 2018.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Two hits from leadoff spot

Belt went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 10-7 win over Milwaukee.

Belt continues to bat first in the order following the All-Star break. The veteran first baseman has been doing an extraordinary impression of a traditional leadoff hitter, slashing .361/.452/.471 with a stolen base and eight runs scored in nine games in that role. While unconventional (compared to his heart-of-the-order profile), Belt continues to be the Giants' top on-base man by a long shot, so he should stick atop the order for the foreseeable future.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Royals' Jorge Soler: Slugs 24th homer

Soler went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's 8-5 win over the Tigers.

The 27-year-old capped the scoring on the night with a solo shot in the eighth inning, his 24th homer of the year. Soler has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, slashing .364/.432/.697 over that stretch, but his overall .243/.310/.509 line on the season remains fairly lackluster.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Goes yard twice in Arlington

Alvarez went 3-for-3 with a walk, two solo home runs and a third run scored in Friday's 9-8 loss to the Rangers.

The two teams combined for nine homers at Globe Life Park, but Alvarez was the only player on either squad to go yard twice. The rookie is now up to nine home runs and 27 RBI with a devastating .363/.433/.788 slash line through his first 21 big-league games.

  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Athletics' Mark Canha: Goes yard Friday

Canha went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 5-1 win over the White Sox.

Canha's homer came in the sixth inning, extending the Athletics' lead to 4-0. The outfielder has 13 homers, 37 runs scored and 23 RBI in 59 games this season despite his .241 batting average.
