  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Tigers' J.D. Martinez: Cracks sixth home run Sunday

Martinez went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo shot, his sixth home run of the season, in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Orioles.

He and Miguel Cabrera homered back to back in the eighth to give the Tigers the win after Martinez had appeared to strike out on a check swing to end the inning, but those are the breaks you get when things are going your way. Martinez now has three homers in the last week with a .269/.387/.654 slash line, so he could be poised to go on a tear.

  • Ryan Goins DH | KC

Blue Jays' Ryan Goins: Out of the lineup Sunday

Goins is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rangers, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.

Goins smacked his second homer of the season Saturday, but with his on-base percentage sitting at just .213, he's beginning to lose playing time to Darwin Barney. The 28-year-old will find himself on the bench for the third time in four games.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Rays' Brad Miller: Launches two-run homer against Kendall Graveman on Saturday

    Miller went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 6-0 victory over the A's.

The 26-year-old shortstop is still largely struggling at the plate, but is starting to slowly claw his way out of the .185 hole he'd created during the first month of the season. Miller has his average up 19 points to date in May and launched three homers during the current month. He's already matched the five RBI he tallied in April as well, but his plate discipline still has considerable room for improvement. Miller's May strikeouts (10) are currently outnumbering his hits (nine), and he's whiffed in seven consecutive games.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Marlins' Marcell Ozuna: Extends hit streak to 14 games during Saturday doubleheader

Ozuna scored twice and drove home a pair of runs while going 3-for-5 with a triple in Saturday night's win over the Nationals.

Ozuna also clubbed a pair of hits in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader as he continues to pick up his season. He's now hit safely in 14 straight games while racking up nine multi-hit efforts over that span. His season line has ridden to a strong .313/.361/.552 through 35 games to go along with 21 runs scored, six home runs and 19 RBI.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Cubs' Jorge Soler: Not in Sunday's lineup

Soler is out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates.

Soler has started six of the last seven games for the Cubs, but has collected just three base knocks over that span. The 24-year-old has plenty of potential, but he'll soon need to start showing some results if he plans on staying a regular in manager Joe Maddon's lineup. Kris Bryant will take his place in left field Sunday, while Javier Baez takes over at the hot corner.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Extends batting streak Saturday

McCutchen extended his batting streak to eight games Saturday, going 1-for-4 with a double against the Cubs.

He's hitting .382 in 34 at-bats over his hot streak, which includes four doubles and two dingers. McCutchen might struggle a little bit Sunday. He has just two singles in 16 career at-bats against starter Jon Lester.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Homers against the Orioles on Saturday

Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in the loss to the Orioles on Saturday.

It's been a tough stretch for "Miggy" and the Tigers lately. He is hitting .304 this month, but that was his first homer in the last 14 games. Since hitting 44 homers in 2013, Cabrera has seen his home run totals drop to 25 in 2014 and 18 in his injury abbreviated 2015 season. He has just five in 135 at-bats this year. Meanwhile, Detroit has lost 11 of its last 12 games.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Leaves Triple-A game with back issues

Buxton was removed from his game Saturday with Triple-A Rochester due to a minor back issue, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.

It appears the Twins were just acting cautiously by pulling Buxton from the game, so it's not believed that the injury will dramatically delay his quest to return to the big leagues. He was hitting well with Rochester entering play Saturday, slashing .313/.368/.513 with three homers and two steals across 80 at-bats in the minors.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Nationals' Bryce Harper: To serve one-game suspension Saturday

Harper has dropped his appeal and will serve his one-game suspension in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Marlins, the Washington Post's Chelsea Janes reports.

This is as good a time as any for Harper to serve the suspension, as it will spare him from playing 18 innings Saturday. Chris Heisey will get the start in right field and hit seventh in his place. Make sure Harper is not in any daily lineups Saturday evening, but he should be safe to deploy Sunday.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Padres' Alex Dickerson: Optioned to Triple-A Saturday

Dickerson was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

The Padres recalled Leonel Campos from El Paso to take Dickerson's place. Dickerson mainly served a pinch-hitting role for the Padres and only started one game. He went 2-for-10 with one home run and four RBI before he was sent down.
