  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Scratched from lineup due to elbow

The Phillies scratched Schwarber from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays while he continues to experience soreness in his left elbow, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Schwarber was removed in the fourth inning of Tuesday's 9-4 win, after he looked to have injured his elbow while diving back into first base on a pickoff attempt the inning prior. Though the Phillies initially penciled Schwarber into the lineup Wednesday, manager Rob Thomson said that the designated hitter is still experiencing soreness in his elbow when he swings. The Phillies have Thursday off, so the club is seemingly hopeful that Schwarber will be ready to serve as the DH in Friday's series opener versus the Mets after two full days of rest.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Reds' Amed Rosario: Absent from lineup

Rosario is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in St. Louis.

Rosario had started in the designated-hitter spot in eight of the last nine games, but he will get a day off Wednesday. Noelvi Marte will serve as the Reds' DH in Rosario's stead.

  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Cleared to start Wednesday

Schwarber (elbow) will bat leadoff as the Phillies' designated hitter in Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Schwarber was pulled from Tuesday's 9-4 win in the fourth inning, after he had previously appeared to have hurt his elbow an inning earlier when he retreated to first base on a pickoff attempt. His inclusion in the lineup a day later likely suggests that his removal was precautionary, so fantasy managers in leagues with daily lineup moves shouldn't have many qualms about keeping the slugger active Wednesday. Schwarber has opened September with a nine-game hitting streak, during which he's slashed a scintillating .417/.463/1.083 with seven home runs, 13 RBI and 12 runs.

  • Justin Foscue 2B | TEX

Rangers' Justin Foscue: Sitting in third straight game

Foscue is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Foscue had an opportunity to pick up regular at-bats after Corey Seager (hip) was placed on the injured list last week, but the Rangers have seemingly pulled the plug on the rookie. He'll hit the bench for the third game in a row while Ezequiel Duran has emerged as the preferred option for the lineup spot vacated by Seager.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: On bench against southpaw

Pederson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Lefty Cody Bradford is on the hill for the Rangers, so the lefty-hitting Pederson will head to the bench in the series finale. Pederson's absence will clear the way for Josh Bell to pick up a start as Arizona's designated hitter.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Getting breather Wednesday

McCutchen is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

McCutchen slugged a three-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Marlins, but he'll get a breather in Wednesday's matinee. Bryan Reynolds will be in the designated hitter spot for the Pirates while Billy Cook gets a start in left field.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Smacks three-run homer

McCutchen went 1-for-2 with a three-run homer and a pair of walks in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Marlins.

McCutchen broke the game open in the fifth inning, launching a three-run homer off Adam Oller to extend Pittsburgh's lead to 6-1. It's the 20th homer of the season for McCutchen -- the 10th time in his 16-year MLB career that he's reached that mark. Since returning Aug. 30 from a two-week IL stint, the 37-year-old McCutchen's gone 9-for-29 with four home runs and a 1.157 OPS. He's slashing .241/.338/.432 with 50 RBI, 64 runs scored and three steals in 470 plate appearances on the season.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Diamondbacks' Joc Pederson: Swats homer in win

Pederson went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Rangers.

Pederson has gone 21 games without a multi-hit effort, but he's gotten on base well by drawing 14 walks in that span. The 32-year-old's solo shot Tuesday opened the scoring and gave Arizona all it needed for the win. Pederson is up to 22 homers, 61 RBI, 58 runs scored, six stolen bases and a .282/.404/.536 slash line over 404 plate appearances in his standard strong-side platoon role at designated hitter.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Posts steal Tuesday

Alvarez went 2-for-6 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Athletics.

Alvarez has multiple hits in three of the last four games, though he's also gone hitless three times over eight contests in September. The slugger's steal was his seventh of the year after he had never stolen more than one base in a single season. He's added a stellar .312/.396/.570 slash line with 32 home runs, 80 RBI, 80 runs scored and 31 doubles through 135 contests.

  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Exits with elbow discomfort

Schwarber was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rays due to left elbow discomfort, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Schwarber appeared to injure his elbow while diving back to first base on a pickoff attempt in the third inning, and he was later pinch hit for in the fourth. The severity of his injury remains unknown, and he should be considered day-to-day for the time being.
