Mike Ford DH | MIN
Mariners' Mike Ford: On base three times in loss
Ford went 2-for-3 with a walk in a loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.
It was another quiet day for the Mariners' bats as a whole in the final installment of a three-game sweep at the hands of the Dodgers, but Ford managed one of two multi-hit efforts on the day for Seattle. The slugger came into the contest mired in a 1-for-15 skid that had encompassed his prior seven games, and the multi-hit tally was Ford's first since Sept. 4.

Brent Rooker DH | ATH
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Provides only run with homer
Rooker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Padres.
The Athletics only managed six total hits on the day and Rooker accounted for two of them including their only extra-base hit of the day with an eighth-inning solo home run. The long ball was his third over the last five games and his 26th of the year, as he continues to be one of the rare sources of power in the A's lineup. For the year, the first-time All-Star is slashing .241/.324/.797 with 60 RBI, 55 runs and a 45:126 BB:K in 481 plate appearances.

Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Homers in return
Soler (oblique) went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 16-2 win over Atlanta.
Soler was activated from the injured list Sunday and was in the lineup for the first time since Sept. 5. He wasted little time making an impact, drilling a two-run shot in the sixth inning. The 31-year-old slugger is up to 36 home runs this season, including 11 in 26 games since the start of August. Soler's season slash line is up to .243/.332/.520 with 73 RBI through 536 plate appearances.

Mark Vientos DH | NYM
Mets' Mark Vientos: Knocks three hits
Vientos went 3-for-4 with a run, one RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Reds.
Vientos knocked an RBI single and swiped second base in the fifth inning and later scored a run in the seventh. It was the first three-hit game of his MLB career and his third multi-hit performance this month. Vientos is slashing .218/.262/.345 with 16 RBI through 187 plate appearances on the year, but he's gone 15-for-50 (.300) over his last 14 games.

Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM
Padres' Ji-Man Choi: Sitting versus southpaw
Choi is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
Choi was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday, but he'll end up starting just one of the three games in the series since Oakland is using a pair of lefties, including Ken Waldichuk as the bulk pitcher Sunday. Manny Machado will serve as the designated hitter while Eguy Rosario starts at the hot corner.

Jorge Soler DH | LAA
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Reinstated, batting second Sunday
Soler (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list and is batting second as Miami's designated hitter Sunday against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Soler landed on the shelf Sept. 6 with an oblique strain -- after he missed the previous five games with a hip issue -- but he'll rejoin the active roster following a quick stay on the IL. The veteran slugger is hitting just .231 in 25 games since the start of August, though he's still showcased his power during that stretch with 10 homers.
-
Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Belts 24th homer
Stanton went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's victory over Pittsburgh.
Stanton entered Saturday's tilt hitless in six of his last seven appearances, a span in which he was 1-for-23 (.043) and struck out 33.3 percent of the time. While Stanton's impressive power and high strikeout rate make him a very boom-or-bust fantasy option, he currently owns career worsts in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging over 94 games.

Joc Pederson DH | TEX
Giants' Joc Pederson: Hits bench for nightcap
Pederson will be on the bench for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Pederson went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in the afternoon game. He'll hit the bench for the nightcap with lefty Kyle Freeland starting for Colorado. Luis Matos starts in left field, while Mike Yastrzemski serves as the designated hitter.

Brent Rooker DH | ATH
Athletics' Brent Rooker: On bench Saturday
Rooker will sit Saturday against the Padres.
Rooker leads Oakland in homers (25) this season, and his .239/.324/.467 slash line is good for a 119 wRC+, third on the team behind Ryan Noda and Zack Gelof. Under ordinary circumstances, that would probably be good for an everyday role, but with the 46-101 Athletics firmly in rebuild mode, expect them to continue spreading at-bats around down the stretch so they can evaluate what they have on their roster. Tyler Soderstrom will be Saturday's designated hitter.
