  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: On bench for first game

Stanton will sit for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against Texas.

The Yankees are resting several veterans during the afternoon game, as there's no sense in overworking anybody late in the season with the team locked into the second seed in the American League. Aaron Judge will rest his legs in Stanton's usual designated hitter spot.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mariners' Jesse Winker: Tending to neck issue

Mariners manager Scott Servais said Winker was scratched from the lineup ahead of Monday's 4-3 loss to the Tigers due to a neck issue, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.

The injury looks to be a day-to-day concern, but it could be enough to keep Winker on the bench for both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader with Detroit. Sam Haggerty also departed Monday's game with a groin injury and is also iffy for the twin bill, potentially leaving the Mariners shorthanded in the outfield.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Solo shot in win

Stanton went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Stanton launched a solo homer off Jonathan Hernandez in the eighth frame, expanding the Yankees' lead to 3-0. The long ball was his 30th of the campaign and sixth since Sept. 10. Over his last 17 games, Stanton has produced a .197 average with six homers, 13 RBI and 12 runs.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mariners' Jesse Winker: Late scratch Monday

Winker has been scratched from Monday's starting lineup against the Tigers.

It's unclear if Winker was removed from the starting nine due to an injury, or whether skipper Scott Servais simply had a change of heart. Sam Haggerty will start the contest in left field and bat eighth.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Riding pine Monday

Turner isn't in the lineup Monday against Colorado, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Turner returned from a four-game absence Sunday and went 1-for-4 with a strikeout. Max Muncy is starting at third base while Trayce Thompson serves as the designated hitter Monday.

  • Mariners' Brian O'Keefe: Sent down Monday

O'Keefe was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

The 29-year-old's contract was selected Friday to provide additional depth behind the plate while Curt Casali was on the paternity list. O'Keefe went 1-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts over two big-league games and will head back to the minors after Casali was activated Monday.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Notches one hit in return

Turner went 1-for-4 in a loss to the Rockies on Sunday.

Turner returned from a four-game absence due to a shin injury. The Dodgers played it cautiously with the veteran third baseman, slotting him in at designated hitter and pinch running for him after he singled in the ninth inning. Still, the fact that he was able to return to the lineup bodes well for Turner's ability to play every day in the postseason.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Hits bench Monday

Ozuna is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Ozuna will take a seat after going 1-for-6 with a double and two strikeouts after serving as Atlanta's designated hitter over the final two games of its weekend series with the Mets. He'll likely continue to be part of a three-way timeshare at DH with Willson Conteras and Travis d'Arnaud.

  • Mike Ford DH | MIN

Angels' Mike Ford: Outrighted to minors

The Angels outrighted Ford to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Ford was one of three Angels recently designated for assignment to clear waivers, with pitcher Mike Mayers and outfielder Magneuris Sierra also getting outrighted to Triple-A on Sunday. The 30-year-old Ford is eligible to become a free agent this offseason and may have to settle for a minor-league deal after slashing .206/.302/.313 over 149 plate appearances in the majors this season between stops with the Angels, Mariners, Giants and Atlanta.

  • Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: Smacks two hits, including homer

Vogelbach went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in a 5-3 loss to Atlanta on Sunday.

Vogelbach got New York on the board with a solo home run in the second inning and added an RBI single in the third before being pulled for pinch-hitter Francisco Alvarez in the fifth. The long ball was just the second for the 29-year-old since Aug. 22 as he's been patient at the dish with 15 walks and 15 hits during the 26-game stretch. Vogelbach is slashing .239/.361/.439 with 18 home runs, 45 runs and 59 RBI in 127 games.
