Belt will get a second opinion on his injured knee Tuesday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

An MRI taken Friday on Belt's injured knee came back negative, but he apparently needs another look. The team figures to release another update on his status after the results of his latest exam are read.

Pederson (groin) is starting in left field and batting fourth Monday against the Padres, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Pederson had missed his club's last two contests while dealing with a groin issue, but he's been cleared to return for the series opener. He's 10-for-30 with one home run, two RBI and three runs scored over his last 10 games.

Madris was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.

Madris posted just a .345 OPS over 24 games after being recalled by the Pirates in late July, so the club decided to send him back down to iron some things out. If he is able to he could return to the majors before the campaign comes to a close.

Lewis owns just a .200/.231/.200 slash line and a 38.5 percent strikeout rate over the 26 plate appearances covering his first six games since being demoted to Triple-A Tacoma.

The outfielder initially resisted the demotion to the Rainiers and consequently didn't play in his first game for the team until nine days following the move, but if early returns are any indication, Lewis does indeed have some work to do before facing big-league arms again. The 27-year-old has shown some signs of coming around over the last three games by going 4-for-14 with a pair of RBI and a run in that span, yet he's still in search of his first extra-base hit since being sent down.

Martinez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 12-4 loss to the Rays.

It seems unthinkable, but Martinez's homer snapped a 35-game drought without going deep. His last home run was July 10. Even more unthinkable, it took until Aug. 28 for Martinez to reach double-digit dingers -- Sunday's blast was his 10th of the season. He's in the final year of his contract, and the Red Sox are not expected to make an effort to re-sign Martinez.

Reyes went 2-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday's 9-7 loss to the Brewers.

Reyes connected for his 12th home run of the season in the ninth inning. Since debuting with the Cubs on Aug. 9, the slugger is batting .280 with three long balls across 19 games. Reyes hit 30 home runs in a season as recently as last year, so he's definitely capable of providing good power production, and Chicago has been enjoying his offensive output so far. The 27-year-old could be playing himself into a prominent role with the team in 2023.

Turner went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Marlins.

Turner drove in his first run during the first inning and later added an RBI double in the ninth. It was his fifth multi-hit effort over his last seven appearances, raising his season slash line to .267/.338/.411 with 66 RBI and 36 extra-base hits through 102 games. Turner has gone 20-for-64 (.313) with 12 RBI in 16 games this month.

Ohtani went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the Angels' 8-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Ohtani filled the scorecard Sunday as he recorded a two-run home run to pad the Angels' lead in the sixth inning and added a couple of hits and a walk for good measure. The home run was his 28th of the season and his first since Aug. 17. The All-Star is now slashing .265/,358/.516 on the season.

Atlanta outrighted Goins to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

Goins is expected to report to Gwinnett after he officially cleared waivers, a development that doesn't come as a surprise given his status as a light-hitting 34-year-old journeyman infielder. During his recent six-day stint in the majors with Atlanta, Goins didn't log a plate appearance.

Pederson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins due to a tight groin, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The lefty-hitting Pederson is usually a fixture in the lineup versus right-handed pitching, but the injury explains why he's out of the starting nine while righty Aaron Sanchez takes the hill for Minnesota. Austin Slater will pick up a start in the outfield in place of Pederson, who should be viewed as day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener with the Padres.
