Daniel (1-1) picked up his first big-league win in Friday's 5-1 victory over Oakland, yielded two hits and a walk over five shutout innings out of the bullpen.

Daniel finished the game after starter Chase Silseth allowed one run through four frames. The rookie right-hander threw 47 of 61 pitches for strikes and worked around the only threat he faced in the ninth inning. Since being promoted to the big leagues earlier this month, the 26-year-old made three extended relief appearances for the Angels, registering a 2.19 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 12.1 frames.

Silseth allowed one run on two hits and three walks over four innings Friday in the Angels' win over Oakland. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

Silseth returned from the injured list Friday to make his first appearance since Aug. 26. The lone damage against him came on Brent Rooker's RBI double in the third inning. Silseth posted a 3.96 ERA with a 56:26 K:BB through 52.1 MLB innings this season. In seven appearances since the All-Star break, he registered a 3.21 ERA.

Pagan will start Saturday's game in Colorado after earning a save in Friday's 7-6 win over the Rockies, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

After needing just nine pitches in an easy bottom of the ninth inning Friday to earn his first save of the season, Pagan will now turn right back around to make his first career start a day later. The 32-year-old right-hander will probably only be asked to cover the first inning Saturday for the AL Central-champion Twins. Chris Paddack and Dallas Keuchel are available on three and two days' rest, respectively, and could be capable of covering multiple innings behind Pagan.

Manager Alex Cora announced Friday that Jansen will not pitch again this season, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Jansen was activated off the COVID-19 injured list last weekend, but he hasn't made an appearance since Sept. 12 and the Red Sox don't have a reason to push him out there in their final two regular-season games. The veteran closer is due a $16 million salary from Boston in 2024.

Manager Phil Nevin announced Friday that Rodriguez had another setback with his right shoulder, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Rodriguez was cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment earlier this month, but he had surrendered four earned runs over 2.2 innings (three appearances) between Single-A Inland Empire and Triple-A Salt Lake. The 25-year-old hasn't pitched in a major-league game since 2021 due to ongoing shoulder troubles.

Houston recalled Martinez from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

He'll join the Astros' bullpen ahead of Friday's series opener in Arizona as Ryne Stanek goes on paternity leave. The 29-year-old Martinez has posted a 5.23 ERA and 1.49 WHIP through 43 major-league innings this season.

Houston placed Stanek on the paternity list Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Stanek will miss at least a portion of the Astros' final regular-season series against the Diamondbacks as he welcomes a new addition to his growing family. Seth Martinez has been called up in a corresponding move.

The Yankees optioned Gomez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Gomez made his major-league debut Thursday in Toronto and struck out four of the eight batters he faced over two scoreless innings of relief. The 23-year-old right-hander should be a consideration for the Opening Day roster next spring, whether in a rotation or bullpen role. He's mostly worked as a starter in the minors.

Vasquez (calf) was activated from the 15-day injured list Friday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Vasquez returns to the Tigers' bullpen for the final weekend of the 2023 campaign after missing about four weeks due to a calf injury. The 30-year-old southpaw has posted a 3.55 ERA and 40:22 K:BB in 45.2 innings of relief this season between Philadelphia and Detroit.

Erceg (4-4) recorded the win against the Twins on Thursday, firing a scoreless seventh inning during which he issued three walks and recorded a strikeout.

The right-hander nearly blew the 1-1 lead he was tasked with preserving, but he was able to get Donovan Solano swinging to snuff out the bases-loaded threat. Erceg has settled down after an uneven early part of the season, as he's now posted scoreless appearances in 14 of his last 15 trips to the mound, including in seven straight outings.
