  • Austin Cox RP | ATL

Royals' Austin Cox: Drawing another start

Cox is scheduled to start Monday's game in Minnesota, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

After opening his big-league career with 12.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, Cox was moved into the rotation last week. He couldn't keep the momentum going in a starting role, as he lasted just 3.2 innings in his first career start while giving up four earned runs on four hits and four walks en route to taking a loss to the Guardians. Despite the poor showing, Cox will get another chance to start against a divisional opponent, though he may need to show improvement Monday to stick as the team's fifth starter over Alec Marsh coming out of the All-Star break.

  • Rangers' Aroldis Chapman: Makes team debut

Chapman allowed one hit and struck out two over a scoreless seventh inning in Sunday's 5-3 loss to Houston.

Chapman was acquired by Texas last week and made his debut for the new club. He entered a tied game, and it stayed that way after he left. There may be save opportunities down the road for Chapman, who could serve as a partner to Will Smith as the team's closer.

  • Josh Sborz RP | TEX

Rangers' Josh Sborz: Charged with loss

Sborz (4-3) took the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning against the Astros.

A reconfigured Texas bullpen had mostly done its job after a rough May, but Sborz didn't have it while pitching in the second of back-to-back appearances. The right-hander, who entered Sunday's game with a 0.49 ERA over the previous 12 outings, has a 16.88 ERA the three times he's pitched without rest.

  • Paul Sewald RP | ARI

Mariners' Paul Sewald: Secures 16th save

Sewald struck out two batters in a perfect inning and earned a save over the Rays on Sunday.

Sewald made quick work of the Rays, needing just 11 pitches to finish off the 7-6 win. He picked up a pair of saves during the weekend series after blowing a save chance June 27 against the Nationals. He's now converted 16 of his 19 opportunities while posting a 2.62 ERA and a 47:11 K:BB across 34.1 frames.

  • White Sox's Gregory Santos: Earns first save

Santos allowed two runs on three hits in one inning of work against Oakland on Sunday. He struck out one and earned a save.

Santos was given his first save chance of the year and converted it despite coughing up a pair of runs. Despite the shaky outing, he owns a 2.95 ERA with a 42:10 K:BB through 42.2 innings this season. However, he had a 1.95 ERA through 28 games but has given up seven runs over his last 10.1 innings. Kendall Graveman and Reynaldo Lopez were not used Sunday.

  • Jordan Romano RP | LAA

Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Gives up go-ahead homer

Romano (3-4) took the loss in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox. He allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one over one inning.

After entering the 4-4 ballgame in the top of the ninth, Romano surrendered a solo home run to Alex Verdugo on the very first pitch. The long ball was the second Romano has dished out over the last four games, a stretch in which he's given up three runs with three strikeouts over 3.1 innings. Despite taking his fourth loss of the year, Romano remains tied for the league lead in saves with 24.

  • Cionel Perez RP | WAS

Orioles' Cionel Perez: Snags win Sunday

Perez (2-1) earned the win Sunday over the Twins, striking out one in a perfect inning.

Perez had allowed at least one baserunner in each of his last 13 appearances, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on 16 hits and seven walks over 12.2 innings in that span. He was an effective setup man last season, but Perez's regression with walks (4.7 BB/9) has made it a difficult first half of 2023 for the southpaw. He has a 4.45 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 22:16 K:BB over 30.1 innings while adding eight holds through 33 appearances. Perez will still get some late-inning work, but he's no threat to Felix Bautista's closer role, whiel Danny Coulombe has surpassed Perez as the Orioles' top lefty reliever.

  • Angels' Carlos Estevez: Converts 21st save

Estevez allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Estevez allowed at least one baserunner in seven of his 10 outings in June, though he was able to convert all seven of his save chances in the month. He continues to work around traffic effectively -- he has a 1.85 ERA despite a 1.26 WHIP while racking up 42 strikeouts through 34 innings this season. He's converted 21 saves and added two holds while operating as the Angels' primary closer.

  • Ryan Pressly RP | CHC

Astros' Ryan Pressly: Converts 17th save

Pressly struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

Pressly had no trouble protecting a two-run lead. He's converted five saves and added a win since his blown save June 14 versus the Nationals. The right-hander is 17-for-20 in save chances with a 2.72 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 39:7 K:BB through 36.1 innings overall. Pressly continues to enjoy stability in the closer role for Houston.

  • Shawn Dubin RP | ARI

Astros' Shawn Dubin: Goes four innings in spot start

Dubin allowed a run on three hits and two walks while striking out three over four innings, taking a no-decision in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

Dubin worked up to 68 pitches (39 strikes) in his first big-league start, and he did an effective job of quieting a strong offense. The run on his line came on an Adolis Garcia sacrifice fly in the first inning. It's unclear if Dubin will stick in the Astros' rotation beyond Sunday -- Framber Valdez (ankle) is questionable to pitch again before the All-Star break. If Dubin starts again, it'll likely be during a four-game home series versus the Mariners.
