  • Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA

Rays' Pete Fairbanks: Locks down save No. 8

Fairbanks tossed a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save over the Royals on Sunday. He did not allow a hit but did walk a batter and also struck out one.

Fairbanks is now 3-for-3 in save chances since returning from the injured list June 15. He's had scoreless outings in 16 of his 18 appearances this season and currently sports a 1.76 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 14:7 K:BB over 15.1 innings. As long as he can stay healthy, Fairbanks appears to be manager Kevin Cash's preferred option for saves over Jason Adam.

  • Ryan Weber RP | NYY

Yankees' Ryan Weber: Hoping to avoid surgery

Weber (forearm) has opted for a platelet-rich injection and rehab in an attempt to avoid Tommy John surgery, per MLB.com.

Weber has been on the shelf since feeling discomfort near his right forearm in an outing against the Dodgers on June 2. Season-ending Tommy John surgery remains a possibility, but the righty reliever is taking a conservative treatment approach with the hope that he can return to the big-league team before the end of the campaign. Weber is on the 60-day IL and can't be activated until early August, at the soonest, even if he responds well to the treatment.

  • Seth Martinez RP | BOS

Astros' Seth Martinez: Notches first save

Martinez struck out one batter in a perfect inning and earned a save against the Dodgers on Sunday.

Martinez recorded his first career save with a clean 11th inning Sunday. He followed Ryan Pressly's two innings of work and shouldn't be expected to see many save chances moving forward. Martinez lowered his ERA to 4.65 with a 33:14 K:BB through 31 innings this season.

  • Ryan Pressly RP | CHC

Astros' Ryan Pressly: Picks up second win

Pressly (2-2) allowed one unearned run over two innings against the Dodgers on Sunday. He struck out one and earned a win.

Pressly worked the ninth and 10th innings Sunday and yielded an unearned run in the latter frame despite not allowing a hit or walk in his appearance. He looked iffy early in the month, but he's given up just one run over his last eight innings, dropping his season ERA to 2.97. Pressly's converted 14 of his 17 save chances while going 2-2 with a 35:7 K:BB through 33.1 innings.

  • Felix Bautista RP | BAL

Orioles' Felix Bautista: Tallies trio of strikeouts in save

Bautista picked up the save Sunday against the Mariners. He allowed one hit while striking out three over a scoreless inning.

Bautista entered Sunday's contest with a 3-2 lead and managed to pick up his 21st save of the season after striking out three of the four batters he faced. The outing was a solid bounce back for the 28-year-old, who blew a save opportunity Saturday by serving up a solo homer. Through 35 appearances, Bautista has racked up the fourth most saves in baseball (21) while owning a 1.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a massive 18.2 K/9.

  • Michael King SP | SD

Yankees' Michael King: Secures fifth save Sunday

King picked up the save in Sunday's 5-3 victory over the Rangers, allowing one hit over a scoreless inning. He struck out two and didn't record a walk.

With Clay Holmes and Wandy Peralta presumably unavailable after working the previous day, Ron Marinaccio got the call in the eighth with New York trailing and King earned a save opportunity after the Yankees took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. It was King's fifth save of the year but his first save opportunity since June 13. It had been a struggle for King since then, as he allowed five runs over his previous three appearances. Despite his scoreless inning Sunday, King likely won't get many more save chances moving forward as long as Holmes, Peralta and Marinaccio are all healthy.

  • Liam Hendriks RP | MIN

White Sox's Liam Hendriks: Out through All-Star break

Manager Pedro Grifol said Sunday that Hendriks (elbow) won't return from the 15-day injured list before the All-Star break, which runs July 10-13, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

The 34-year-old received both cortisone and platelet-rich-plasma injections shortly after he landed on the shelf June 11 with right elbow inflammation, and he's still more than a couple weeks away from his return. GM Rick Hahn said last Monday he was hoping Hendriks would begin throwing within the next week or so, but it's unclear at this point if the right-hander has started up his throwing program.

  • Matt Moore RP | BOS

Angels' Matt Moore: Managing some soreness

Moore (oblique) is dealing with some soreness after he threw a simulated game Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Manager Phil Nevin indicated the soreness isn't believed to be a setback, though it's certainly not an encouraging sign with the lefty closing in on his return from the injured list. Moore isn't throwing Sunday and will be re-evaluated Monday before the next steps in his rehab are determined.

  • Braden Bristo RP | DET

Tigers' Braden Bristo: Remains in organization

Bristo cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Bristo was designated for assignment by Detroit last weekend but will stick in the organization after he passed through waivers unclaimed. The right-hander has spent most of the year with Toledo and has a 7.64 ERA across 17.2 innings.

  • Angels' Kolton Ingram: Optioned to Triple-A

Ingram was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Ingram allowed a run over two innings during Saturday's blowout win in Colorado and will now make his way back to the minors. He posted a 2.63 ERA in 23 outings for Double-A Rocket City before being called up by the Halos on June 15, and he'll now join the Triple-A club.
