Quijada allowed two earned runs over 1.2 innings in Monday's 5-4 extra-inning loss against Oakland. He allowed one hit, two walks and struck out one.

Quijada entered the game with one out in the eighth inning and retired both batters he faced. He then stuck around and retired two batters but allowed two runners to reach base in the ninth, both of whom scored after Aaron Loup relieved him. The hold was Quijada's fourth since Sept. 25, but he has now allowed earned runs to score in three of his last five outings and has not recorded a save since Aug. 14.

Martinez allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Angels Tuesday. He fanned five and did not factor into the decision.

Marinez's season came to a close with a rocky start Monday, as he surrendered four runs for the fourth time in his final five starts. A silver lining is that none of the runs Monday came via the home run after he allowed seven over his previous four starts. The rookie finishes the season 4-6 with a 6.24 ERA over 57.2 innings.

Chafin earned the save against Seattle on Monday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over one inning.

Chafin was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the ninth frame and worked around a two-out single and stolen base to get the job done. He threw nine of 15 pitches for strikes and racked up multiple punchouts for his third straight outing. Chafin has picked up two saves in the past three days, with Gregory Soto recording a save of his own in between. Soto is clearly still the Tigers' primary closer, but Chafin has posted consecutive strong campaigns in a high-leverage role.

Barlow (7-4) earned the win Monday over the Guardians. He struck out one in a perfect inning.

Barlow kept the game tied at 2-2 in the ninth inning, and the Royals took the lead on a Drew Waters home run in the 10th. Over his last 12.1 innings, Barlow hasn't been charged with a run, yielding just four hits and six walks while striking out 15. The Royals' closer lowered his ERA to 2.18 and WHIP to 1.00, and he's added a 77:22 K:BB with 24 saves and six holds in 74.1 innings this year.

Barnes pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit while notching a save in Monday's 4-3 victory against the Rays.

Barnes entered the game in the top of the ninth inning tasked with protecting a 4-3 lead. He was able to work around a one-out triple by Wander Franco to escape with his seventh save of the campaign. Barnes has now produced 11 consecutive scoreless outings since Aug. 31, pitching 10.1 innings while striking out seven batters over that stretch. The right-hander has now gone 7-for-9 on save chances while producing a 4.42 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 34 strikeouts over 38.2 innings in 43 appearances this season.

Hendriks picked up the save Monday against the Twins. He allowed no runs on one hit, one walk and one hit batsman while striking out three over one inning.

With the White Sox up 3-2 in the ninth inning, Hendriks allowed a leadoff single to Gio Urshela and struck out the next two batters. However, he proceeded to hit a batter and allow a walk to load the bases before striking out Mark Contreras to end the game. Hendriks has allowed just one run in 11.2 innings dating back to the beginning of September with 18 strikeouts. He is 8-for-8 in save opportunities during that span.

Clarke recorded two strikeouts in a perfect inning to earn a save over Cleveland on Monday.

Clarke needed just 11 pitches (10 strikes) to finish off the 5-2 victory. It was the first time he completed a full inning of work since Aug. 6 and the outing lowered his season ERA to 4.04 with a 48:8 K:BB through 47 appearances. Clarke picked up the save in the 10th inning after Scott Barlow worked a scoreless ninth frame.

Effross pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out one batter on his way to a save in Monday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Effross was called upon in the bottom of the ninth inning to protect a 3-1 lead, retiring all three batters he faced in order, including a strikeout. The save was his fourth of the season and second since returning from the 15-day injured list Sept. 22. Effross now owns a 2.54 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 62 punchouts over 56.2 innings in 60 games with the Cubs and Yankees this year.

Chapman (3-4) took the loss against Baltimore on Sunday, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks in one-third of an inning. The only out he recorded was by strikeout.

Chapman entered with the score tied 1-1 in the seventh inning and allowed a leadoff single. He then issued two walks to load the bases before striking out Ryan Mountcastle. The veteran reliever couldn't follow up on that successful out, however, as he next walked Gunnar Henderson to allow the go-ahead run to cross the plate. Altogether, Chapman tossed just 12 of 26 pitches for strikes, and this was the fourth time in his past eight outings that he's walked multiple batters. He's posted an awful 7.1 BB/9 over 35.1 innings on the season, and Bryan Hoch of MLB.com suggests that Chapman is in danger of missing out on the Yankees' postseason roster.

The Guardians outrighted Shaw to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Shaw is on the books for $3 million in 2022 and is likely eager to receive the remaining prorated portion of his contract, so his decision to accept the outright assignment rather than electing free agency doesn't come as a surprise. Before he was removed from the Guardians' 40-man roster, Shaw turned in a 5.40 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 52:26 K:BB in 58.1 innings. His contract includes a $4 million club option for 2023, which the Guardians will almost certainly decline this winter.
