Vizcaino's contract was selected by the Royals on Monday.

Vizcaino signed a minor-league contract with Kansas City in January and has posted a 1.76 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 15.1 innings over 16 relief appearances at Triple-A Omaha this year. The 31-year-old hasn't made a major-league appearance since 2019 but will serve as an extra bullpen arm after the Royals placed several relievers on the COVID-19 injured list Monday.

Vest (illness) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

Vest has been out for 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19. Given the relatively short length of his absence, he may not need more than a single rehab appearance before returning to the active roster.

Cuas' contract was selected by the Royals on Monday.

Cuas was promoted to Triple-A Omaha late in 2021, and he began the 2022 season in Omaha after serving as a non-roster invitee this spring. Over 23 relief appearances at the Triple-A level, the 27-year-old has posted a 1.40 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 25.2 innings. The right-hander hasn't yet made his major-league debut but will provide assistance in the bullpen after the Royals placed several relievers on the COVID-19 injured list Monday.

Speier was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Monday.

The Royals officially placed Speier on the IL without an injury designation, but that presumably means that he's sidelined due to the league's COVID-19 protocols. While it's not yet clear whether the southpaw has tested positive for the virus, he'll need to spend some time away from the team. Speier had been effective recently, striking out four in 3.2 scoreless innings over his last three appearances.

Martin (0-4) took the loss Sunday, allowing one run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning against Oakland.

The Athletics walked off Martin, who has a 6.30 ERA over his last 12 appearances and 4.67 for the season. Some of that may be due to luck. The left-handed reliever sports a 2.90 FIP while opponents have a .345 BABIP off him.

Sedlock allowed five runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in three innings versus the Red Sox on Sunday.

Sedlock got through the fifth through seventh innings without too much trouble, but he got into trouble in the eighth. Marcos Diplan allowed an inherited runner to score after Sedlock left the contest. It was far from a dream debut for the right-hander, who will need to show more than what he did Sunday to maintain his place on the major-league roster.

Montero (2-0) did not allow a baserunner in a scoreless seventh inning while striking out two to earn the win Sunday against the Mariners.

Montero has allowed only one earned run across 19.2 innings this season while also maintaining a 23:5 K:BB. His dominance was on display Sunday as he needed just nine pitches to set the Mariners down in order. Though Ryan Pressly is locked into the closer role, Montero is capable of delivering excellent ratios and has also racked up six holds on the campaign.

Winder (right shoulder impingement) has been playing catch and will begin ramping up this week, the John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

He plans to throw off a mound later this week. Winder was originally expected to miss the minimum 15 days on the injured list, but he may need a rehab start or two before returning.

Soto yielded one hit in a scoreless inning Sunday, recording one strikeout and earning a save over Cleveland.

Soto allowed a two-out single to Owen Miller but had no issue finishing off the 2-1 win against Detroit's division rival. The 27-year-old southpaw is riding a 6.2-inning scoreless streak, lowering his season ERA to 2.30 through 15.2 frames. He's converted eight of his nine save chances while posting a 13:8 K:BB this year.

Pivetta (4-4) allowed a run on five hits and three walks while striking out five in six innings to earn the win over the Orioles on Sunday.

Pivetta posted a 10.03 ERA over his first three starts in 2022, but he's turned things around recently and has logged five consecutive quality starts. The right-hander has been rewarded with wins in his last four outings, and he's logged a 1.59 ERA, 30:6 K:BB and 0.76 WHIP in 34 innings over his last five starts. Pivetta tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Oakland on Saturday.
