Coulombe (3-2) took the loss in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against Cleveland, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk in the seventh inning of a 3-1 defeat. He struck out two.

Joe Ryan (wrist) tossed five strong innings but exited after being struck by a comebacker, and while Jorge Alcala was able to keep the score knotted at 1-1 in the sixth, Coulombe wasn't able to get the game to extra innings when he got the call. The southpaw has been fading since the beginning of August, posting a 4.50 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB over his last 14 appearances and 14 innings while collecting two wins and two holds.

Clase struck out one in a perfect seventh inning during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader to record his 23rd save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Twins.

The right-hander continues to thrive as the main man in the Cleveland bullpen. Since July 25, Clase has converted 12 straight save chances, posting a dazzling 0.40 ERA, 0.49 WHIP and 23:1 K:BB through 22.2 innings over that stretch. With James Karinchak still trying to fix his mechanics at Triple-A, Clase has taken full advantage of his opportunity to cement himself as the unquestioned closer for his club.

Bummer (3-5) did not allow a hit or walk while striking out one over a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the win over the Angels on Tuesday.

Starter Lucas Giolito came off the injured list and was removed after 87 pitches and four innings with the White Sox leading 7-3. That left the door open for a reliever to pick up the win, but the official scorer bypassed two relievers to credit Bummer with the win. The two relievers prior to Bummer combined to allow five baserunners over two scoreless innings. Bummer has pitched well of late, giving up one run with no walks and seven strikeouts over the last six innings.

Naughton (0-2) took the loss against the White Sox on Tuesday, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two.

Naughton looked good in his previous start, during which he hurled five scoreless frames. He took a step back against the White Sox on Tuesday, giving up a pair of runs in the second inning and watching two more baserunners that were his responsibility cross the plate after he departed in the third. The rookie's ERA jumped from 2.57 to 4.32 as a result of the poor start, which ranks as the shortest of his brief career. Naughton is slated to next take the mound at home against Houston early next week.

Wells (1-3) allowed five earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three across four innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Yankees.

Wells was burned by the long ball, as he allowed home runs to Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Luke Voit. Those balls over the fence accounted for all five of the earned runs he surrendered. Wells has taken consecutive turns through the rotation and allowed seven earned runs across eight innings while striking out five and walking three. Despite those poor results, he may remain a starter after Matt Harvey (knee) was lost for the season.

Kittredge tossed a perfect ninth inning on his way to securing a save versus the Blue Jays on Monday.

The 31-year-old was called upon to protect a 2-0 lead and registered three consecutive outs to grab his seventh save of the year. After two consecutive shaky outings including a blown save, Tuesday's performance was a welcomed one for the right-hander.

Barnes (illness) is expected to be activated from the COVID-19 injured list prior to Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Barnes' August struggles led to him losing his firm hold on the closer role before he tested positive for COVID-19 at the end of the month. He was originally expected to make multiple rehab outings in Triple-A before being activated over the weekend, but the latest update indicates that he'll return after just one scoreless inning with Worcester. Boston could try to get Barnes some work in low-leverage innings before putting him in an important spot.

Ort was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

The right-hander joined the Red Sox last Friday, but he did not make an appearance during his four games with the club. Martin Perez's (illness) return from the COVID-19 IL pushes him back to Worcester for the time being, but he could rejoin the big-league roster should Boston need to add an arm during the final three weeks of the regular season.

Warren (undisclosed) said Tuesday that he's been throwing bullpens and is expected to face live hitters within the next few days before being activated during the upcoming homestand, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Warren rejoined the Angels last week after spending nearly two weeks on the COVID-19 injured list. The right-hander has been getting his arm back in shape, and based on his update, he could be activated during the upcoming weekend series against Oakland. Once reinstated, Warren will resume his major-league campaign with a 1.69 ERA and 17:4 K:BB.

Manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Loaisiga (shoulder) is "close" to throwing and is "making positive strides" after landing on the injured list last week, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

The right-hander moved to the IL on Sept. 5 after suffering a strained rotator cuff. While Boone noted the progress, the club is still unsure of when exactly he'll resume playing catch. Once he's able to ramp up his throwing, Loaisiga's return timeline should gain some clarity, but for the time being it looks like he has a decent chance to return before the end of the regular season.
