The Rays are expected to call up Yarbrough from Triple-A Durham and use him as a bulk reliever for Thursday's game against the Indians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Heading into the week, the Rays didn't require a fifth starter/primary pitcher until Saturday, but the team decided to push Blake Snell and Charlie Morton back a day for rest purposes. That creates a need for an extra long-relief arm in the series opener in Cleveland, with Yarbrough representing the most obvious candidate to fill the void. Though he struggled in his most recent appearance with the big club back on April 24, Yarbrough has found success over his four outings with Durham, posting a 2.14 ERA and 30:3 K:BB in 21 innings.

Rumbelow cleared waivers Wednesday and was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma.

It's hardly surprising that Rumbelow's 9.19 Triple-A ERA wasn't appealing enough for another team to claim him off waivers. He'll remain in the Mariners organization but doesn't appear to be close to returning to the big leagues.

Treinen recorded two strikeouts during the ninth inning to earn the save Tuesday at Cleveland. He did not allow a baserunner.

Treinen allowed a solo homer when he notched the save Sunday but rebounded with a scoreless, 13-pitch outing against the Indians. The 30-year-old has a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB over 23.1 innings and has converted 9-of-11 save opportunities.

Chavez will serve as the opener Wednesday against the Mariners.

Chavez last pitched Sunday when he delivered two scoreless innings against the Cardinals, and could go for one or two innings Wednesday. It will be the 35-year-old's second outing as an opener this season. Adrian Sampson will follow as the Rangers' primary pitcher.

Covey (0-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks over four innings while striking out one as the White Sox fell 5-1 to the Astros.

The right-hander has lasted past five innings only once in four starts since moving into the rotation, and it's not because he's on a limited pitch count. Covey threw 55 of 86 pitches for strikes before getting the hook Tuesday, and managed a pitiful two swinging strikes. He'll carry a 5.31 ERA and 7:16 K:BB through 20.1 innings into his next outing Sunday in Minnesota.

Stanek will serve as the opener Wednesday against the Dodgers, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

Stanek was expected to open Tuesday's game but Hunter Wood was instead called upon to cover the first two frames. It will be Stanek's 13th "start" in 19 appearances this season, and he has a 1.93 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and 21:3 K:BB over 18.2 innings in those outings.

Jimenez (2-2) allowed a run on two hits and a walk to take the loss in Tuesday's 5-4, 11-inning defeat to the Marlins.

Jimenez started the top of the 11th inning off with a strikeout and a groundout. Things changed quickly for the righty, however, as he allowed a single to Miguel Rojas followed by a double to Chad Wallach that brought home the run from first. Jimenez used a good start in 2018 to make the AL All-Star team, but he's been more sluggish out of the gate this year, as he now has a 4.19 ERA through 21 appearances.

Weber could make a spot start Thursday in Toronto, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Nathan Eovalid (elbow) is at least a couple weeks away from returning to the rotation, so Boston will be forced to use less-than-stellar options in that rotation spot in the short term. The other option is Hector Velazquez, who has a 6.41 ERA in 19.2 innings as a starter this season. Weber had a 5.04 ERA and 18:5 K:BB in 25 innings as a starter at Triple-A this season, so he isn't an ideal option either.

An MRI on McHugh's elbow did not reveal any structural damage, and the hope is that some rest will allow the soreness/inflammation to subside, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

He is not out of the woods by any means, but it sounds like McHugh's elbow injury is on the mild side, and may not require surgery. It is possible that he was pitching through this issue over the past month, when he really began to implode after a great first four starts of the season. There is no timetable for his return, but he was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Banda (elbow) threw a live batting-practice session Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

This is another step in the lefty's return from Tommy John surgery. He should be sent out to a minor-league affiliate sometime in the coming weeks.
