Rodriguez was placed on the 7-day injured list Tuesday due to lower back discomfort, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Rodriguez is slated to visit a specialist within the next few days to uncover the extent of the issue. The timeline for his return is murky at this point, although the injury is concerning, as Rodriguez missed the entire 2018 season due to a stress reaction in his back.

The Orioles added Armstrong to their 25-man roster ahead of Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

Armstrong had no minor-league options remaining, so it was inevitable that he would report to the big club after being claimed off waivers from Seattle on Sunday. While Armstrong's surface results (six runs allowed on eight hits and three walks in 3.2 innings) haven't been pretty this season, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports notes that the right-hander's slider has the 10th-highest spin rate among pitchers who have thrown the offering 50 times or more since 2018. That at least provides a sliver of optimism for Armstrong's chances of emerging as a useful piece in a Baltimore bullpen that otherwise lacks many intriguing arms.

Burdi (lat) was promoted to Double-A Birmingham on Tuesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Recovery from Tommy John surgery limited Burdi to just 6.1 innings of rookie-league rehab last season, and he started this season on a rehab assignment at Low-A Kannapolis while dealing with a lat issue. He's now up at Double-A and should soon advance to Triple-A Charlotte, where he spent time in 2016 and 2017 prior to his elbow injury.

Norris is slated to make his next start Wednesday against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Detroit initially had Tyson Ross and Spencer Turnbull in line to start the two games in Philadelphia, but those plans were nixed when Ross was placed on the paternity list Tuesday. Turnbull will now move up a day to pitch Tuesday, while Norris moves up two days in the schedule and loses out on a home outing against the Royals in the process. It's a big downgrade from a matchup standpoint for Norris, who would have been a fairly shaky streaming option even if he picked up the home start this week.

Double-A Bowie placed Tate on its 7-day injured list Tuesday due to an unspecified issue.

Bowie has deployed Tate as both a starter and a reliever this season, with the right-hander churning out a 6.08 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 13.1 innings over his five outings. The nature and extent of his setback aren't clear, but it's nonetheless a negative development for a pitcher who has only seen his outlook in dynasty leagues plummet since being acquired from the Yankees in the summer of 2016.

Scott was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk following Monday's game against the White Sox. He retired one batter on a strikeout and allowed a hit along with two walks.

Scott has struggled mightily out of the bullpen so far this season for Baltimore, posting a 6.75 ERA and 2.85 WHIP with a 12:8 K:BB over 6.2 innings. The Orioles have finally had enough. The team has yet to make a corresponding move, though Shawn Armstrong is a strong candidate to take Scott's place on the 25-man roster, per Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports.

Barnes got the final two outs of Monday's 9-4 win over the A's to record his second save of the season.

Hector Velazquez began the ninth inning for Boston and loaded the bases with one out, creating the barest minimum definition of a save chance for Barnes with the tying run on deck for Oakland. The right-hander needed only two pitches -- a fly out by Stephen Piscotty and a fielder's choice grounder by Khris Davis -- to quell the threat. Barnes now has a 2.25 ERA and outstanding 23:3 K:BB through 12 innings with two wins, two saves and four holds in 12 appearances, and he'll likely continue to see usage in high-leverage spots rather than being reserved exclusively for save situations.

Brasier (1-0) struck out one in 1.1 perfect innings of relief to get credit for the win in Monday's 9-4 victory over the A's.

Eduardo Rodriguez didn't complete five innings, leaving it to the official scorer to determine which Boston reliever most "deserved" the win, and Brasier was the lucky recipient after he got the final out of the seventh inning and breezed through the eighth. The right-hander now has a 1.32 ERA and 12:2 K:BB with six saves and a hold through 13.2 innings over 14 appearances.

Colome struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning to secure the save over Baltimore on Monday.

Colome made quick work of the Orioles in the ninth frame, striking out the first two batters he faced before forcing Joey Rickard to ground out. The 30-year-old righty is now a perfect 6-for-6 in save chances this season with a 2.13 ERA.

Treinen (1-2) allowed four earned runs on five hits and two walks across 1.2 innings in an extra-innings loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday. He struck out one.

Treinen's uneven April continued Sunday, with his unraveling particularly surprising considering the right-hander has been so effective over the last season-plus in a closing role. Treinen was handed a seemingly secure three-run lead to start the 11th inning. There were two men on before Treinen recorded an out, with a three-run home run and RBI single by Brandon Drury and Justin Smoak, respectively, completing the Blue Jays' comeback. While the 30-year-old sported an elite 0.68 ERA entering the outing, Treinen has uncharacteristically run into control problems thus far this season. Sunday marked his third appearance with multiple walks this season, and he's handed out 11 free passes already after issuing just 21 all of last season across 80.1 frames.
