  • Zack Littell RP | ARI

Twins' Zack Littell: Scheduled to start season finale

Littell will start Sunday against the White Sox, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Littell has made one start for the Twins this season and appeared five other times out of the bullpen, posting a 7.04 ERA in 15.1 total innings. The 22-year-old turned in a much more palatable 3.57 ERA in 106 innings for Triple-A Rochester.

  • Cory Gearrin RP | NYY

Athletics' Cory Gearrin: Out with triceps issue

Gearrin has been unavailable due to a triceps issue, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

Gearrin hasn't pitched since Sept. 18. He's allowed four runs in six innings since heading to Oakland in late August. The full extent of his injury is not yet clear.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Athletics' Blake Treinen: Suffers fifth blown save

Treinen yielded one unearned run on two hits over one inning to blow a save chance Tuesday in the Athletics' 10-8 loss to the Mariners in 11 innings.

Tasked with preserving an 8-7 lead in the bottom of the ninth inning, Treinen recorded two groundouts to begin the frame. Two batters later, Treinen induced another grounder from Ryon Healy but third baseman Matt Chapman couldn't field it cleanly, allowing the tying run to reach second. Kyle Seager then delivered an RBI single to tie the game before the Mariners prevailed in extras, dealing Oakland a crushing blow to its hopes of capturing home-field for the Wild Card showdown with the Yankees. At least from a fantasy standpoint, Treinen atoned for the missed save chance by whittling his ERA down to 0.79 due to the run being unearned.

  • Ryne Stanek RP | STL

Rays' Ryne Stanek: Working as opener Wednesday

Stanek will serve as the Rays' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

The right-hander is expected to cover no more than two frames before giving way to Yonny Chirinos, who likely lines up as the primary pitcher for the contest. Stanek has delivered sterling ratios while splitting his time between the opener role and more traditional relief duty, but since he doesn't work deep into the games he technically starts, he's only factored into five decisions over his first 57 appearances.

  • Orioles' Jimmy Yacabonis: To start second game of Wednesday's twin bill

Yacabonis will take the mound for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against Boston, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Yacabonis had his scheduled start Tuesday postponed due to weather. Though he won't be skipped in the rotation, this takes away the chance for Yacabonis to pitch twice this week, as he is no longer lined up for Sunday's season finale versus Houston. Ryan Meisinger will toe the rubber in Game 1 on Wednesday.

  • White Sox's Hector Santiago: Not starting Wednesday

Santiago won't start Wednesday against the Indians with Jace Fry scheduled to open for the White Sox in what amounts to a bullpen game, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Manager Rick Renteria hasn't clarified who will follow Fry in the reliever's first start of 2018, but as one of the few stretched-out options in the bullpen, Santiago is a good candidate to fill multiple innings for the White Sox. Santiago was used in Monday's series opener, but only threw four pitches while retiring two hitters. He'll thus be fairly fresh as he prepares for what will likely be his 49th appearance of the season in the big leagues.

  • Lou Trivino RP | PHI

Athletics' Lou Trivino: Dealing with neck issue

Trivino came to the ballpark Tuesday with a neck issue and will be reevaluated Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The right-handed reliever spent Tuesday getting plenty of treatment according to manager Bob Melvin, and he remains firmly day-to-day for the time being. Trivino has solid numbers overall this season (3.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 80 strikeouts over 72 innings), but he's given up seven earned runs on six hits across two-thirds of an inning over his last two outings.

  • Hansel Robles RP | LAD

Angels' Hansel Robles: Picks up first save

Robles pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout and a walk to secure the save in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.

Called on to protect a three-run lead in the ninth inning, Robles was able to work around a two-out walk to pick up his second career save, and first of the season. Ty Buttrey, who has allowed six runs (five earned) in his last two outings, was bypassed for the save opportunity and Blake Parker was summoned to pitch the eighth inning. The back end of the Halos' bullpen remains fluid entering the final days of the 2018 campaign.

  • Collin McHugh RP | ATL

Astros' Collin McHugh: Runs into seventh-inning trouble

McHugh allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jays.

McHugh came on to shepherd Houston's three-run lead through the seventh inning, but was missing his location and couldn't finish the frame. He had been stellar out of the bullpen for much of the season, but has lost his effectiveness of late. The right-hander's ERA stood at 0.98 as recently has Aug. 10, but he has a 5.87 ERA over his last 16 outings.

  • Twins' Trevor Hildenberger: Allows four runs, takes loss

Hildenberger (4-6) allowed four runs on three hits in one-third of an inning to take the loss against the Tigers on Tuesday. He struck out one and walked one.

Hildenberger entered the game with the Twins up 1-0 in the eighth inning and put two runners on via a single and a walk before giving up RBI base hits to Nicholas Castellanos and Niko Goodrum. He was then relieved by Trevor May but both Castellanos and Goodrum came around to score on an RBI double by James McCann. Hildenberger has now allowed runs to score in five straight games and has seen his ERA balloon to 5.25 on the season. The righty is 7-for-11 in save chances on the year and would figure to close out the season as the closer, but nothing is for certain.
