Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Third rehab start scheduled
Pomeranz (biceps) threw a bullpen session Monday and will make his third rehabilitation start Friday for Triple-A Pawtucket, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Pomeranz could be activated shortly after the All-Star break, although he hasn't pitched more than three innings in his previous two rehab starts. The left-hander may require a fourth rehab start next week to build up his innings and pitch count before rejoining Boston's rotation.

Joe Kelly RP | LAD
Red Sox's Joe Kelly: PItches Monday
Kelly, who had left his previous outing after experiencing lightheadedness, threw a scoreless eighth inning in Monday's 5-0 win over Texas. He allowed a hit and struck out two.
Kelly shook off a leadoff single to record his third consecutive scoreless outing. Manager Alex Cora still has confidence in Kelly, who had an 8.31 ERA during the month of June. The right-hander has pitched the eighth inning in eight of his previous nine appearances.

Cory Gearrin RP | NYY
Rangers' Cory Gearrin: Makes Rangers debut
Gearrin struck out one over 1.2 scoreless innings in Monday's 5-0 loss to Boston.
Gearrin, who was acquired by the Rangers from the Giants on Sunday, made a good first impression in his debut, forcing three groundouts and keeping the game close before Jesse Chavez was lit up for a three-run home run in the eighth inning by J.D. Martinez. The outing extended his scoreless streak to seven games. Manager Jeff Banister told Craig Forde of MLB.com that he plans to use Gearrin in a variety of roles, including bridge work late in games.

Fernando Rodney RP | ARI
Twins' Fernando Rodney: Picks up 20th save Monday
Rodney allowed a hit and a walk but still finished a scoreless ninth for his 20th save Monday against the Royals.
Rodney has saved all three chances he has faced since blowing a pair of saves June 28 and July 2, but he has now allowed two baserunners in three consecutive outings. Even when he's successful of late, Rodney can't make it easy. He owns a 3.06 ERA with less than a week to go until the break.

Giovanny Gallegos RP | LAD
Yankees' Giovanny Gallegos: Optioned to Triple-A
Gallegos was sent down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the conclusion of Monday's twin bill against the Orioles.
As expected, Gallegos will return to the minors after being brought up as the 26th man for Monday's doubleheader. He's appeared in three games for the Yankees this season, allowing three runs on eight hits while fanning 10. Gallegos figures to resurface in the big leagues later this season.

Blake Treinen RP | LAD
Athletics' Blake Treinen: Notches 23rd save Monday
Treinen worked around two hits to finish a scoreless ninth for his 23rd save Monday against Houston.
Treinen struck out a pair, the 16th time this year he has struck out multiple batters. He now has 19 saves in a row dating back to April 18 -- a game in which he stayed in for two scoreless innings after blowing the save in an eventual extra-innings win for the Athletics. Treinen owns a 0.79 ERA and has earned his All-Star appearance with a brilliant first half.

Giovanny Gallegos RP | LAD
Yankees' Giovanny Gallegos: Records three-inning save
Gallegos allowed two runs on two hits and two walks across three innings but came away with a save in Monday's win over the Orioles.
Called up earlier in the day to serve as the 26th man for the doubleheader, Gallegos didn't pitch particularly well but qualified for the save on a technicality. He's likely headed back down to the minor leagues until the Yanks need an extra arm again.

Jimmy Yacabonis RP | NYM
Orioles' Jimmy Yacabonis: Sent back to minors
Yacabonis was shipped to Triple-A Norfolk following Monday's doubleheader against the Yankees. He allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out six across five innings, as he didn't factor into the decision of Game 1.
Yacabonis surrendered three runs in the first three frames, but he managed to settle down and blank the Yankees in his final two innings before being lifted with a one-run deficit. Through two starts this season, he's given up five runs over nine innings while fanning 10. Following Monday's outing, Yacabonis will head to Triple-A Norfolk.

Drew VerHagen RP | STL
Tigers' Drew VerHagen: Looks solid in return
VerHagen allowed no runs on one hit and one walk while fanning three across 2.2 innings in his first outing since June 19.
VerHagen was having a rough go of it prior to landing on the disabled list, as he'd surrendered one or more runs in seven of his last 10 outings before suffering a broken nose. He'll look to turn it around as he sits with an alarming 8.02 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 21 strikeouts over 21.1 innings.

Jakob Junis RP | TEX
Royals' Jakob Junis: Not expected back before break
Royals manager Ned Yost said Sunday that Junis' back injury isn't considered serious, but the right-hander isn't expected to be activated from the 10-day disabled list until after the All-Star break, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Junis was scratched from his scheduled turn in the rotation Sunday against the Red Sox and was placed on the DL after being diagnosed with lower-back inflammation, resulting in long reliever Heath Fillmyer picking up his first MLB start. With Junis having posted an 8.13 ERA over his six outings since June, Yost likely reasoned that the second-year pitcher could probably benefit from a more extended rest while healing up from the back injury. The Royals have an open date in the schedule Thursday and are expected to move Fillmyer back to the bullpen and get by with a four-man rotation until after the break.
