  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Mariners' Alex Colome: Notches first save in new digs

Colome made his Mariners debut in Sunday's win over the Twins, notching his 12th save by firing a perfect ninth inning.

Starter Mike Leake worked eight sparkling innings of one-run ball, and with the Mariners holding only a two-run advantage entering the ninth, the stage was set for a save situation. However, regular closer Edwin Diaz was unavailable after having worked four of the prior five days, which afforded Colome a chance to make a positive impression on his new teammates in his first game in a Seattle uniform. The 29-year-old came through with flying colors, needing only nine pitches to retire the potent trio of Brian Dozier, Max Kepler and Miguel Sano. Sunday's scenario -- wherein manager Scott Servais had the luxury of going to another accomplished closer when his usual stalwart ninth-inning option was unavailable -- exemplifies the current depth of the team's bullpen.

  • Lou Trivino RP | PHI

Athletics' Lou Trivino: Continues racking up holds

Trivino notched his sixth hold in a win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday, firing a scoreless eighth inning and recording two strikeouts.

The right-handed reliever has been quite the revelation, having allowed just two earned runs over his first 19 major-league innings. Trivino had a rare hiccup against the Mariners in his last appearance by allowing a run on two hits and a walk, but he's racked up a win and five holds while generating a sterling 1.35 ERA in May.

  • Akeel Morris RP | SF

Angels' Akeel Morris: Back with big club

Morris was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

Morris will rejoin the big club to offer a fresh arm out of the bullpen after Sunday's starter, Garrett Richards, lasted just 2.1 innings. He owns a 4.26 ERA across 6.1 major-league innings this season and a 4.96 ERA across 16.1 Triple-A frames, so look for the 25-year-old to fill a low-leverage relief role during his time with the Angels.

  • Trevor May RP | ATH

Twins' Trevor May: Struggling at Triple-A

May gave up seven runs over two innings Sunday with four walks and five strikeouts for Triple-A Rochester. He has a 9.28 ERA in three Triple-A starts. "I don't think there has been any finality to when his [minor league assignment] is going to end," manager Paul Molitor told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

It was thought May could be ready to join the bullpen or rotation in June after he started pitching again in the minors after missing last season due to Tommy John surgery. However, his struggles at Triple-A, especially with his control (eight walks in 10.2 innings), indicate he may need a few months in the minors before he's ready to return.

  • Ken Giles RP | ATL

Astros' Ken Giles: Fails to record an out

Giles allowed three runs on three hits and failed to record an out in Sunday's 10-9 extra-inning loss to the Indians.

Giles, who hadn't pitched in three days, entered the game in a non-save situation as the Astros were leading by five runs. His outing began with a marathon 17-pitch at-bat from Jose Ramirez, who eventually doubled. The next two batters followed with singles, and Giles was pulled after 21 pitches. "It's so rare to have an at-bat go that long, it also takes our closer out of the game. It's hard to run him up to 30 or 35 pitches. It completely changed the complexion of that inning, both in putting some energy into the start of their inning and also impacting our pitching. It was quite an at-bat," manager A.J. Hinch told Ben Weinrib of MLB.com. GIles' ERA ballooned to 5.06 after the outing with all of that damage coming in non-save situations.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Athletics' Blake Treinen: Continues racking up saves

Treinen got the save against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, striking out one without allowing a baserunner in a clean ninth inning to close out Oakland's 2-1 victory.

Treinen continues to rack up saves at a prolific rate, as his latest clean effort gave him his 12th of the season in 14 opportunities. It's been a terrific month of May for the right-hander, who has nine saves and has allowed just one earned run over his 13 innings since the calendar flipped from April. Overall, he now has a 1.04 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP to go along with a 33:8 K:BB over 26 innings this season.

  • Matt Moore RP | BOS

Rangers' Matt Moore: Will start Wednesday vs. Seattle

Moore (knee) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Mariners, Dic Humphrey of MLB.com reports.

Moore would have been ready to come off the DL as soon as Tuesday, but the Rangers elected to give him an extra day to recover from the right knee issue before slotting him back into the rotation. Though Moore shouldn't face any restrictions Wednesday following the brief shutdown period, his spot in the rotation is likely on thin ice after he struggled mightily through his first 10 outings (nine starts) prior to hitting the DL. Over 41.2 innings this season, Moore has gone 1-5 with a 7.99 ERA and 2.02 WHIP.

  • Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Promotion not imminent

Graveman was bypassed for a promotion from Triple-A Nashville when the Athletics required a fifth starter Sunday against the Diamondbacks, and he's expected to remain in the minors for the foreseeable future to continue working on his mechanics, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Frankie Montas was instead summoned from Triple-A to fill Brett Anderson's (shoulder) spot in the rotation Sunday and delivered six innings of one-run ball and struck out seven in the spot start. Though Anderson and Andrew Triggs (forearm) both seem likely to miss at least two more turns through the rotation, the strong performances delivered by Montas and Daniel Gossett in place of the injured hurlers give the Athletics no incentive to look in Graveman's direction just yet. Graveman will instead continue to bide his time at Nashville, where he has posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.75 WHIP across four starts this season.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Notches 11th save

Chapman tossed one scoreless inning and walked one while striking out two Sunday as he picked up save No. 11 against the Angels.

Chapman has converted on his last four save opportunities, and he sits with an outstanding 1.27 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with 39 strikeouts in 21.1 innings. Chapman certainly isn't in any danger of losing his current role as the closer and should continue to rack up the strikeouts with his stellar fastball.

  • Austin Pruitt RP | TEX

Rays' Austin Pruitt: Goes 5.2 innings for save

Pruitt tossed 5.2 scoreless innings Sunday against the Orioles to earn his first save of the season, allowing three hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Pruitt came on with one out in the fourth inning and retired eight of the first nine batters he faced. He was able to keep the O's off the board for the duration of his time on the mound, becoming the first player in 15 years to record a five-inning save. Pruitt has allowed just two runs in his last 13.1 innings, but he still has a 4.02 ERA for the season and doesn't carry much fantasy value as a long reliever.
