Tigers' Warwick Saupold: Earns seven-out save
Saupold earned his first career save Saturday against the Royals, pitching 2.1 innings without allowing a single baserunner.
While Saupold technically earned the save, he's in no way part of the closer conversation in Detroit. He entered the game with two outs in the top of the seventh and a three-run lead. That lead was promptly stretched to six in the bottom of the seventh and eight in the bottom of the eighth. If the game remained close, the Tigers almost certainly would have gone away from their long reliever. Still, it's a promising outing for Saupold, who has now thrown 5.2 innings and has yet to allow a run. With a strikeout rate of 4.7 percent, though, don't expect him to climb into a high-leverage role anytime soon.

Jose Leclerc RP | SD
Rangers' Jose Leclerc: Returning to majors
The Rangers recalled Leclerc from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Leclerc cracked the Rangers' Opening Day roster, but was sent back to the minors in the first week of April. The 24-year-old tossed three scoreless innings with three strikeouts in his first stint with the Rangers and should again serve as a low-leverage bullpen arm.

Eduardo Paredes RP | DET
Angels' Eduardo Paredes: Heading back to majors
The Angels recalled Paredes from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Paredes fired two scoreless innings during his first stint with the Angels this season. The Angels designated Luke Bard for assignment to create room on the 25-man roster, and Paredes should again serve in a low-leverage bullpen role.

Gregory Infante RP | CHW
White Sox's Gregory Infante: Called up to majors
Infante was called up to the majors Saturday, James Fegan of The Athletic Chicago reports.
Infante is up to replace Danny Farquhar, who is in the ICU in stable but critical condition after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Infante had been up for the White Sox earlier in the season, posting a 16.62 ERA in 4.1 innings and walking 20 percent of batters while striking out just 12 percent.

White Sox's Danny Farquhar: In stable but critical condition
Farquhar suffered a brain hemorrhage in the dugout Friday and is in the hospital in stable but critical condition.
Farquhar suffered a ruptured aneurysm, causing the brain bleed. He is being closely monitored in a neurosurgical ICU unit and has been placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Alex Colome RP | CHW
Rays' Alex Colome: First win of season Friday
Colome (1-2) fired a clean 10th inning in a victory over the Twins on Friday.
It may not have been a save opportunity, but Colome and the Rays had to be thrilled to see the embattled closer generate a 1-2-3 inning and then end up with the win as a bonus. Colome had given up an earned run in three of his previous four trips to the mound as well as seven runs overall in his previous seven appearances. The 29-year-old was able to get through his frame with an efficient 11 pitches, a welcome departure from the 16-20 offerings he'd needed to navigate in each of his last four outings.

Carson Fulmer RP | PIT
White Sox's Carson Fulmer: Throws in relief Friday
Fulmer allowed one run on three hits while striking out three in Friday's 10-0 loss to the Astros.
Fulmer came on to the pitch the ninth inning of a game that was already firmly in the hands of the Astros. We don't see this as a change in roles for Fulmer, who opened the season in the White Sox's starting rotation. His last start Wednesday lasted one-plus innings (46 pitches), so there were plenty of bullets left in the arm. Manager Rick Renteria earlier this week said it was too soon to talk about yanking another struggling starter, Miguel Gonzalez, from the rotation, so we assume the same applies to Fulmer as well. Probably even more so, as the White Sox have more invested in the rookie.

Ken Giles RP | ATL
Astros' Ken Giles: Throws low-leverage inning Friday
Giles (back) pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Friday's 10-0 win over the White Sox.
It was good to see a Giles sighting, even if it was in mop-up duty. He had been declared unavailable Thursday due to a back issue that cropped up during the week, but it appears a stint on the disabled list will be avoided. His outing Friday was his first game appearance in seven days. There's still the issue of whether he's the team's closer, even if part of the mix with Chris Devenski and Brad Peacock.

Fernando Rodney RP | ARI
Twins' Fernando Rodney: Blows second save Friday
Rodney blew his second save of the season in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Rays, giving up one run on one hit in an inning of work while striking out three.
The veteran closer seemed to have things under control in the ninth inning, quickly retiring the first two batters he faced, but Rodney then hit Carlos Gomez with a pitch and allowed Gomez to steal second base before he served up a game-tying single to Brad Miller. Rodney's two blown saves have come in his last three appearances, and while his 8:2 K:BB in 6.2 innings is strong, a 4.05 ERA and 1.80 WHIP highlight the volatility that's been his trademark since at least 2015.

Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC
Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Struggles in first start of season
Pomeranz got a no-decision against Oakland on Friday, lasting just 3.2 innings and giving up three runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking two as the Red Sox eventually won 7-3.
Freshly activated off the 10-day disabled list after recovering from a forearm injury, Pomeranz struggled in his first start of the year, surrendering three runs in the first inning before settling down somewhat. It wasn't a banner showing, but Pomeranz had a solid 3.32 ERA in 173.2 innings for Boston last year, so there's reason to hope this was just first-start rust and he'll get on track as he logs more starts.
