  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Notches 34th save Saturday

Diaz struck out two batters over 1.1 innings and earned his 34th save of the year in Saturday's 6-4 victory over the Angels.

After blowing a save for the first time in more than two months Friday, Diaz didn't allow a baserunner Saturday. Having fanned 89 batters over 66 innings, Diaz has been a solid source of strikeouts this season. However, his lack of control has been an issue, as he's walked 32 batters and surrendered 10 home runs in that time as well.

  • Carson Fulmer RP | PIT

White Sox's Carson Fulmer: Bests Kluber, Indians for third win

Fulmer (3-1) earned the win over the Indians on Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out two over five innings.

A blister surfaced early in his last start, but Fulmer showed no ill effects Saturday, getting the best of Corey Kluber and the Tribe. Just as many seemed ready to write Fulmer off as a starter, he went on a strong run in September, going 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 19:10 K:BB over 22 innings. He's put himself in position to open 2018 in the White Sox rotation, but Fulmer will need to continue to hold his own in spring training.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Records 47th save

Colome allowed one run on two hits in an inning against the Orioles on Saturday, but escaped with a save.

He gave up back-to-back hits to begin the frame, and one of those runners came around to score on a sac fly, but Colome eventually nailed down the 4-3 win for Tampa Bay. Colome is now up to 47 saves on the season, six more than anyone else in baseball and nine more than anyone else in the American League. The 28-year-old is arbitration eligible for the first time this winter.

  • Miguel Castro RP | CHW

Orioles' Miguel Castro: Takes loss in penultimate game

Castro (3-3) took the loss Saturday, giving up three runs on six hits and one walk over 3.1 innings against the Rays. He struck out three.

Things were going pretty well for Castro in his first career big-league start up until the fourth inning, when he allowed three straight hits to begin the frame, including a homer to Brad Miller. Castro was traded to the Orioles early in the year after being designated for assignment by the Rockies and went on to post strong ratios, but his strikeout rate fell off a cliff in his age-22 season.

  • Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Nails down win for 22nd save

Chapman struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning against the Blue Jays on Saturday en route to his 22nd save of the season.

The flamethrower ends September with a perfect 0.00 ERA in 11 appearances (12 innings), with just three hits allowed and a 17:2 K:BB in that span. Chapman lost his grip on the closer role earlier in the second half, but he's regained his dominant form at the right time as the Yankees head into a one-game playoff against Minnesota next week.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Picks up 17th win

Pomeranz gave up one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three in six innings Saturday against the Astros en route to picking up his 17th win of the season.

The Red Sox clinched the AL East title with this win, so Chris Sale will not pitch Sunday and will instead take the ball for Game 1 of the ALDS. This sets up Pomeranz to start Game 2 against the Astros. He finished the regular season with a 3.32 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 174 strikeouts in 173.2 innings.

  • Ryan Garton RP | SEA

Mariners' Ryan Garton: Stellar in Mariners stint

Garton has a 1.59 ERA, 0.44 WHIP, .103 BAA and .141 wOBA allowed over 11.1 innings across 12 appearances since joining the Mariners on Sept. 1.

The right-hander was traded to Seattle from the Rays on Aug. 6 and struggled upon arriving at Triple-A Tacoma, posting a 6.00 ERA over 12 innings. However, Garton has turned it around at the big-league level. His performance has been a notable improvement over his only other major-league stint, when he generated a 4.35 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with the Rays over 37 appearances in 2016.

  • Sam Moll RP | CIN

Athletics' Sam Moll: Gives up earned run Friday

Moll struck out one and gave up one earned run on three hits over 1.1 innings in a 5-3 loss to the Rangers on Friday.

The 25-year-old southpaw's rough introduction to the big leagues continues, as he's now given up at least one earned run in four of his last five appearances. Moll does have three holds to his credit, but he also sports an unsightly 10.50 ERA and 2.33 WHIP across the six innings encompassing his 10 appearances.

  • Brad Boxberger RP | CHC

Rays' Brad Boxberger: Picks up fourth win

Boxberger (4-4) picked up the win in Friday's 7-0 victory over the Orioles, firing a scoreless fifth inning in which he recorded a strikeout.

The hard-throwing reliever now has six straight scoreless efforts and is closing out the season on a high note. Factoring in Friday's outing, Boxberger's ERA for the month is down to 1.08, as he's allowed just one earned run in 8.1 innings across eight September appearances.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Tosses scoreless frame in non-save situation

Kimbrel allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Friday against the Astros in a non-save situation.

The star closer hadn't pitched in a game for five days, so the Red Sox opted to use him in an effort to keep the team just one run behind. Kimbrel did need 15 pitches (11 strikes) to complete the frame, but it likely won't jeopardize his availability for Saturday's contest if a save situation arises. He now holds a 1.32 ERA and an absurd 16.3 K/9 on the season to go with his 35 saves.
