  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Records first win of season

Colome allowed an unearned run on two hits while walking two and striking out one in two innings for his first win of the year in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Twins in 15 innings.

Colome has now allowed only five runs while striking out 20 and walking eight in 24.1 innings on the season. His 7.4 K/9 leaves a little something to be desired, but the 28-year-old closer has been pretty darn good so far (1.85 ERA) and is in no danger whatsoever of losing his role anytime soon.

  • Twins' Hector Santiago: Gives up two homers in relief appearance

Santiago was used in relief in Sunday's extra-inning game and gave up two runs and two home runs over one inning. He took the loss and fell to 4-4.

Santiago was pressed into duty after the Twins had used all their relievers in a 15-inning game. It was Santiago's throw day as he'd thrown a bullpen session earlier in the day, but it's not clear if the timetable for his next start will be altered.

  • Athletics' Daniel Mengden: Will start Monday vs. Indians

Mengden will be called up from Triple-A Nashville on Monday to start against the Indians, John Hickey of the East Bay Times reports.

The Athletics will have to replace their second rotation member in less than a week with Kendall Graveman (shoulder) set to join Jesse Hahn (triceps) on the disabled list Monday, allowing Mengden to get his first trial with the big club this season. Mengden has made only four starts with Nashville after foot surgery sidelined him for spring training and delayed his start to the campaign, but he's been spectacular in those outings, turning in a 2.21 ERA and 20:5 K:BB in 20.1 innings. Manager Bob Melvin has said that he expects Graveman to miss more than the minimum 10 days, so Mengden could end up seeing additional starts beyond Monday if he performs well.

  • Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Will hit DL on Monday

Graveman (shoulder) will be placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday, John Hickey of the East Bay Times reports.

It will mark Graveman's second DL stint of the season due to right shoulder soreness, an issue that sidelined him in April for about two weeks. Manager Bob Melvin hinted Saturday that Graveman would likely miss more than the minimum 10 days. Daniel Mengden, who will be called up from Triple-A Nashville to start Monday against the Indians, could be in line for an extended stay in the rotation if he performs well in his season debut.

  • Rob Whalen RP | SEA

Mariners' Rob Whalen: Demoted following Saturday start

Whalen was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Whalen made his Mariners debut in a starting role Saturday against the Red Sox and failed to impress, surrendering five runs on seven hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. Even if he had performed better, the right-hander likely wouldn't have stuck in the rotation beyond Saturday, as James Paxton (forearm) is on track to return from the disabled list later this week. Reliever Ryne Harper was recalled from Triple-A to take Whalen's spot on the active roster.

  • Dario Alvarez RP | SEA

Rangers' Dario Alvarez: Hits DL with elbow strain

Alvarez was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday due to a left elbow strain.

Utility man Drew Robinson was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to take Alvarez's spot on the active roster. The lefty reliever picked up two holds earlier in May, but prior to the injury, it seemed he had fallen out of the setup mix after giving up runs in two of his last four appearances. Once healthy, Alvarez will likely be ticketed for low-leverage work out of the bullpen.

  • Buck Farmer RP | CIN

Tigers' Buck Farmer: Optioned to Triple-A

Farmer was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Though Farmer struck out a career-high 11 batters over 6.1 scoreless innings during his spot start in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the White Sox, it was always expected that he would return to the minors after the outing. If nothing else, Farmer's dazzling performance likely solidified his case for being first in line to join the Tigers rotation if the team should lose a starter to injury at any point.

  • Astros' Jordan Jankowski: Recalled form Triple-A

Jankowski was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Sunday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Jankowski had been dispatched to the minors just two days earlier to make room for Dallas Keuchel's (neck) activation from the disabled list, but the Astros will be able to bring the right-hander back on the active roster following Charlie Morton's (lat) surprise move to the DL. It's expected that Jankowski, who made his MLB debut Wednesday against the Tigers, will see largely mop-up duty in relief while he remains with the big club.

  • White Sox's David Robertson: Saves first game of doubleheader

Robertson struck out two in a scoreless inning to collect his sixth save of the season in Chicago's 3-0 win over Detroit in the first part of a doubleheader.

Robertson and three other relievers finished up for Tyler Danish, who managed to get through five innings in his first major-league start. This was the first save opportunity since April 29 and the first converted save in over a month for Robertson, who closed out a game against Kansas City on April 26 to pick up his fifth save.

  • Buck Farmer RP | CIN

Tigers' Buck Farmer: Heading back to minors

Farmer will be optioned back to Triple-A Toledo after his spot start Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Farmer was brilliant while making a spot start during Saturday's doubleheader against the White Sox, striking out 11 batters over 6.1 shutout innings. The right-hander will make his way back to the minors for now, but has shown his ability to compete at the major-league level and could certainly be in line for further pitching opportunities in the future.
