  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Gets first hold of season Sunday

Colome was brought on in the eighth inning in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Red Sox, getting the final out of the frame with a strikeout.

The closer was brought on for what presumably would have been a four-out save, as the Rays were clinging to a 4-2 lead at the time. Colome came on with two aboard and set down Hanley Ramirez on a swinging strike three to snuff out the threat. However, given Tampa's seven-run explosion in the top half of the ninth, there was no need for manager Kevin Cash to send Colome back out for the ninth. The 28-year-old right-hander has yet to give up a hit over five innings spanning his six May appearances.

  • Ryne Stanek RP | STL

Rays' Ryne Stanek: Notches hold in MLB debut

Stanek was credited with the first hold of his big-league career in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Red Sox, surrendering a hit in one-third of an inning.

Just called up from Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Stanek got his first exposure to regular-season big-league action quickly and acquitted himself reasonably well. The 25-year-old right-hander was enjoying a strong season with the Bulls before being summoned to the Rays, and he could prove to be a valuable asset for a short-handed relief corps for the time being.

  • Matt Strahm RP | KC

Royals' Matt Strahm: Picks up win Sunday

Strahm (1-2) picked up his first win of 2017 after striking out three over 1.1 perfect frames Sunday against the Orioles.

Since returning to the big-league club in late April, Strahm has managed a 1.64 ERA and 13.1 K/9 over 11 innings. He's also logged two holds and a victory during that stretch. The Royals' top prospect looks locked in after his early-season struggles, and he should continue playing a key role out of the bullpen moving forward. There's a possibility Strahm may even earn a spot start, as the left-hander has notched 30 career starts in the minors, including 18 last season.

  • Matt Andriese RP | MIA

Rays' Matt Andriese: Holds Red Sox to two runs, collects third win

Andriese (3-1) allowed just two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five batters over five innings during Sunday's win over Boston.

Boston boasts an excellent lineup, and Andriese battled his way out of a number of jams to turn in the solid outing. His 3.18 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 8.3 K/9 are respectable fantasy numbers, and he's allowed two runs or fewer in five of eight starts, so the 27-year-old righty is proving to be a reliable, low-end fantasy asset. Andriese has another tough divisional opponent on deck next weekend, as the Yankees will be visiting Tropicana Field.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: MRI on tap Monday

Pomeranz (triceps) will undergo an MRI on Monday, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Pomeranz was pulled from a start Sunday after just three innings with what was described as tightness in the triceps. The left-hander said he plans to make his next scheduled start Friday, but that's pending Monday's exam.

  • Twins' Hector Santiago: Gives up three home runs in Sunday's loss

Santiago gave up six runs on seven hits (three home runs) over 2.2 innings in Sunday's loss to Cleveland.

Santiago had a 2.76 ERA through his first seven starts, but the wheels came off Sunday. Santiago had been outperforming his peripheral stats (6.6 K/9, 3.4 BB/9) and had allowed just three home runs before Sunday's start. The difference between his 3.80 ERA and 5.26 xFIP is a worrisome sign and shows how lucky he'd been on keeping the ball in the park before Sunday.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Allows walkoff bomb in loss

Diaz (1-2) allowed a walkoff home run in the bottom of the ninth inning during Sunday's loss to Toronto.

It was the fourth homer of the season allowed by Diaz, and his 2.4 HR/9 is a real eyesore. Remember that the converted starter went straight from Double-A Jackson to the majors last year, so while Diaz's debut was spectacular last season, his inexperience could be catching up to him. His 12.0 K/9 is still an admirable mark, and until there are sincere rumblings that his closer job is in jeopardy, it's probably worth taking the good with the bad in hopes that Diaz rights the ship.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Plans to make next start

Pomeranz (triceps) is expected to make his next scheduled start Friday against Oakland, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.

Pomeranz had to leave Sunday's game after just three innings due to triceps tightness. Pomeranz went on to say that the tightness was similar to what he experienced in spring training and that it was brought on by flaws in his mechanics. Sunday's effort resulted in Pomeranz being handed his third loss of the season and brought his ERA and WHIP up to 5.29 and 1.44, respectively.

  • Brett Martin RP | TEX

Rangers' Brett Martin: Hits minor-league DL

Martin was placed on the 7-day disabled list at High-A Down East on Saturday with mild back spasms, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports.

The "mild" descriptor suggests that the Rangers aren't prepping for a long-term absence for Martin, who has become one of the team's more promising pitching prospects in the lower minors. The 22-year-old has compiled a 3.12 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 26 innings for Down East this season.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Dealing with tight triceps

Pomeranz was diagnosed with left triceps tightness, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Pomeranz was pulled from Sunday's start after just three innings. In that time, he'd given up two runs on three hits and three walks. Pomeranz dealt with triceps tightness during spring training but wasn't forced to miss time due to that particular ailment. The team has yet to elaborate on the severity of the injury, but more should be known after Pomeranz has his triceps examined further.
