Red Sox's Matt Barnes earns first career win Monday
Red Sox pitcher Matt Barnes picked up his first career win Monday, tossing a pair of scoreless innings while holding the A's hitless, issuing one walk and striking out one in his team's 5-4, 11-inning victory.
"He was calm. Pulse seemed to stay pretty even keel for him," Farrell said of Barnes, per the Boston Herald. "Didn’t go out and change his demeanor after we took the lead in the 11th. Two key innings for us."
Barnes has made 75 starts and just two relief appearances in the minors after being selected in the first round of the 2011 draft.
"I mean, it’s a different routine," Barnes said of coming out of the bullpen. "It’s still a work in progress. We’ll keep working with that. For right now it’s going good."
Barnes has allowed one earned run on 5 1/3 innings while striking out three and walking two in three appearances.

Sean Nolin RP | MIA
Athletics pitcher Sean Nolin could be starter when healthy
Athletics pitcher Sean Nolin could see a larger role when he is able to return to the major league club, according to Bay Area News Group.
Nolin, who is currently on the 15-day DL while recovering from sports hernia surgery, made his first rehab appearance Saturday for Triple-A Nashville. He threw two innings and is expected to make a start in his next appearance, manager Bob Melvin said.
"Now with some of the issues we have, some of our depth isn't as much," Melvin said. "He will definitely be looked at to start. We'll stretch him out."
Nolin made one start in 2013 for Toronto.
"We envisioned him competing for a job," Melvin said. "We weren't able to see him at all in the spring. He was one of the key members in that trade. And, being left-handed, we were excited to see what he had to offer, and we just haven't to this point."

Trevor May RP | ATH
Trevor May rocked in Twins' loss
Twins starter Trevor May dropped to 2-3 on the season after giving up six runs on nine hits over four innings against Cleveland, Sunday.
May gave up five runs in the fourth inning, including a three-run home run to Lonnie Chisenhall. He walked three and struck out four, as his ERA increased to 5.40.
"I don't feel I was way behind guys; it was always just those middling counts, five or six pitches to every hitter," he said. "You just can't do that."
May next starts at home against Tampa Bay on Saturday.
"It's only a matter of time before things start clicking and I start getting those 1-2-3 quick innings and getting deeper into games," May said. "That's what's more frustrating than anything, is looking out in the bullpen and seeing a guy warming up in the bullpen in the fourth, fifth or sixth inning every single time I pitch."

Joe Kelly remains in Red Sox rotation 'for the time being'

Manager John Farrell said that Joe Kelly, who has struggled, will remain in the rotation "for the time being," per WEEI. "Partly because of a chance for Carl to get involved with him and yet we don't deny the stuff that's there. ... It's a matter of how we can make him most effective."

Andrew Bellatti RP | PHI
Rays pitcher Andrew Bellatti in first major league win in relief Saturday
Rays relief pitcher Andrew Bellatti tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings in his first appearance in the majors, picking up the win in Tampa Bay's 7-2 victory over the Rangers.
Bellatti struck out two while allowing one hit and a walk.
"What a performance," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "Gets off a plane and picks up a win. Extremely deserving [of the win] for what he provided.
"Seemed pretty much unfazed by the lineup he was facing and the guys that are in it. ... He pitched really well against a good lineup and kept us from having to go through our entire 'pen. ... [He showed] poise. The command of the fastball, willingness to just get strike one and kept attacking."
Bellatti managed to keep himself calm in his first outing.
"I definitely calmed down," Bellatti said. "The first inning I was pretty pumped, I was kind of looking at the crowd, and then I kind of got in the zone. I did start to feel very comfortable out there."
